Teams occasionally have more than one sponsor don't they. Every part of the kit can be sponsored from the boots or gloves to any undergarments (yes seriously). I find it highly doubtful that the poster on here is the CEO or whatever of a multi million pound company, whilst I do believe he got the email I highly doubt a sports agency will be emailing any old businesses willy nilly looking for a main shirt sponsor for a premier league club. So, yes it might be us, but it's probably not.
I'm pretty sure Dazzar said at the time it was for a main shirt sponsorship deal, and I remember it specifically said it was for the Europa League and domestic cup shirts.
Like a previous poster has pretty much said. Why the f** would the club at this point be scrabbling around sending random and frivolous emails to businesses. Surely the first contact in these kind of things is done via phone or in person. And also why would this said business owner come on here and tell this forum. Total fabrication. My guess would be the they have had to secure two sponsors and this is holding up the process.
Man United have a new shirt sponsor from this season, the new deal with Chevrolet was announced 4th August 2012.
that must be the earliest ever that a sponsor has been announced. Can anyone provide a link to this club statement saying we're going to have 2 sponsors? or is it just a rumour started by someone?
You would hope that the kit would be released by tomorrow in time for the weekend shopping. Doesn't sound like it though if Umbro like a buildup. If we haven't got a main sponsor for the PL then we are screwed so I don't see that as a possibility at all. The email most likely refers to a back of kit sponsor or some smaller sponsorship. Most PL clubs tend to try to milk as many sponsors as possible. We do suck at marketing but it's still possible.
Lets face the fact that if we do not have a sponsor in place now the blame will be laid completely at the door of the FA. As a club we will not be screwed as suggested, we will simply have missed an income stream opportunity and if I was in this situation I would simply have a charity on the shirt as others have done. So if we do have a shirt sponsor it is being kept under the wraps until launch day and if we do not have one we will soon find that out. What puzzles me is that we have "In The Know" about player transfers and not the shirt and sponsor. Where is TubbyTiger when you need him?????
The Mail adds that Hull's chief executive Ehab Allam is currently in discussions with two parties, with a view to follow the route Tottenham Hotspur took last season and have a shirt sponsor for their Premier League campaign, and a separate one for Europa League and domestic cup participation. http://www.ftbpro.com/posts/matthew...-close-in-on-1m-record-shirt-sponsorship-deal
Baring in mind if there is a 2nd sponsor then it will be quite lengthy deal to put together because effectively we could be knocked out of the first round of every competition we are in within the first round. And then the sponsor would only be seen on a shirt three/four times. The deal would be a low initial fee that would trigger more payments every time we progress to the next round and big fees for semi finals or finals.
