I think the point most people want to make is that the kits are red and white (1984 kit aside). This kit is more red with a little bit of white. I don't get this argument of forgetting saints history though last 2 kits have had lots of notes about our history haven't they? I don't like the shirt but I am not going to rip my hair out over the Don forgetting our history when he clearly hasn't in the past. Why would he start now?
When I look across to the stand opposite, we will be a sea of red and white this season, at least collectively. I suspect that this might be the first season ever where sales of the away kit come close to those of the home one.Should look very good as a group. This isn't a betrayal. At £45 for a plastic shirt, it's more like a mugging.
Im buying both shirts. Collectively were red and white still. Yes my initial reaction was it's not red and White stripes but then I thought this guy (cortese) recommended to a lovely businessman that we were a good investment opportunity and he has never done anything wrong by Saints yet including two promotions and a cup win at Wembley! He also gave us Sir Rickie! Both kits are to me a signal that were moving into a new era. We still have our tradition and the kits recognise that but say were moving forward at the same time. I've said it in an earlier post. The kits can play a big psychological advantage on the pitch. No teams in England have ever really feared red and White striped teams but they have red. It gives us a new angle! If you don't want to buy the kit, it's like not buying in to the future. Cortese is not about to move us to another country and rename us. He's establishing a global brand and trying to expand our marketing opportunities which is all a positive. Get on the bus. Don't make a fuss!
Haha. I like the shirt if it wasn't for us. I absolutely loved the sash, but going back to stripes last year was amazing as it felt like reverting back to our own colours. Now they have just completely mixed it up. Meh, I think it will grow on me and everyone else as we get used to it. No doubt this time next year it will all be one of our favourite ever shirts. (If we stay up...)
Worst kit in the PL, it would be like newcastle playing in all black or QPR playing in all white. Its just a lazy bog standard template design just like Swedens shirt, probably done to save a few quid on a design.
I quite like it. Not quite what i was expecting but its definitely striking. I also like that the club are putting together some slick marketing pictures as well; reinforces the professional image they're developing.
I really like the home kit and i really love the away kit. It's different yeah, and the reason for that is that no fan will think, this years kit is similar to last years, I think I'll stick to last years. It encourages people to buy the new shirt if it's completely different.
Just looking at the old Not 606 Saints banner, I think we are missing a trick here. What if we were to be given the choice of "red or white shirted?" at the ticket office? It could look fantastic. All the refuseniks could be in the Kingsland. The cameras never show them anyway, so it wouldn't matter how they looked.
It's nothing personal, FLT. It's just a fact of TV camera angles. That's why those who are not particularly slim or good looking tend to...... Well anyway, it was just a suggestion.
I read up to page 11 last night and had to go to bed I have only read page 17 today, so forgive me if I am going over old ground. Here is how I see it. 1. We kept the stripes: Pros: Tradition, it's who we are. Cons: Same as last year, we look like Sunderland/Stoke/Brentford/Exeter(!! - sorry league one is still so raw) 2. We took the sash Pros: Heritage, it's who we were, different Cons: Been done, we look like Peru/River Plate/a league one side from 2 years ago.... 3. (Mainly) Red shirt, white shorts Pros: Different, Still red and white Cons: We'd look like Man U..... 4. As we are now Pros: Different, new identity for new era Cons: Look like Liverpool of the 80s Basically, it doesn't matter what we did, it would look like someone else's kit. It may not look like OUR kit at the moment, but once you see Rickie celebrating in it his first goal, it will That is all
Actually, I did think about the handle, "FatChannon" but rejected it on the basis that I might get amoebic dysentery at some point and it wouldn't be appropriate. I have been it all stands bar the Northam and yet still can't decide which is the best angle for my close up.
Trust me the TV camera can be cruel..... Sky sports focused in on me at the Boro away game, and then proceeded to show it all week on SS News.... oh boy did I get some stick.
For those who thought it would look better with black shorts... please log in to view this image Not sure it does. Anyway, I intend to purchase the new shirt.
