RLB is a bit of an unknown so the best we can do is get behind him and give him time. The thing with Beale was that it was plainly obvious it wouldn’t work, but this one can go either way.

So just give the lad time. It looks like he’ll be backed with staff, and I presume (hope) the same goes with player recruitment.

Enjoy the ride. Haway.

I don't agree with that but I'm 100% confident that we'll give the new bloke a fair go. It's hard to imagine how bad Beale's reception would have been had we signed him on the back of a relegation but Le Bris is foreign so automatically has credit in the bank.

I’m hopeful he gets a better chance than Beale, but by some of the early comments, I’d be worried if he doesn’t get off to a good start in his first 5 or 6 games.

Are you recommending we boycoutt the club?

Did you expect better? Who?

Are you a realist?
No, I am waiting to see how things turn out. If that offends you then tough!

I am grateful that Sunderland fans don't have the ownership and finance problems of the last years under Short and the reign of the chuckle brothers.

I hoped that finally, under KLD, the managerial merry-go-round had finally slowed down. It hasn't through has it? Players have done well, the fans have supported them as well as ever. This time the cracks all seem to have been down to ownership and technical management - exactly the same people doing the recruiting now and I just don't have much confidence in them to get things right as they seem to have a knack of shooting themselves in the foot when we didn't even know they had a gun!

Unimpressed and before I would get around to backing him I would like to hear his explanation of his record at Lorient last season.

Finishing 2nd bottom with a record of PL34 W7 D8 L19 F43 A66 Diff -23 Pts 29 does not exactly lean toward any faith in his ability to lead us to success!

Just as importantly, what impression will this appointment have upon our player recruitment?
Can you imagine the spiel, 'Come play for us, we've got a new head coach who drove his previous team to an impressive 20% win rate and relegation last season!'

Even more importantly, will the club give us fans anything to get excited about by finally getting around to signing players to round out the squad - especially up front?

Listened to this BBC Sounds interview about him and heard the SAFC buzzwords Shambles and Disaster, a weak attempt to justify the relegation as due to selling two of his best players in January and the team were never the same afterwards but they were in 17th at the end of December, exactly where they finished at season's end.

You obviously didn't listen properly. He actually said that the squad started to weaken from the January prior when the club sold key players. I think he name checked Ouattara who went to Bournemouth but they also let their star striker go that window too. In the summer window they followed it up by selling their star midfielder. Yes they reinvested some money but they made a £30m profit in the transfer market last year so it's safe to say that a lot more talent went out of the door than came in.

what do you suggest then? We sack him off and start the process all over again because he had a bad season last year and ignore the good season he had?

You sound desperate to not give him a chance here and are reaching truth be told.

According to you it does
Where the **** have I even hinted we do that?

All I have posted is that I am unimpressed by his record last season and remain to be convinced.

To be convinced means he will get a chance to convince me that he is the right appointment.

KLD and Speakman however, have certainly put us through the wringer over the last season though and their stock provenance is so poor that if they were to sign Jobe's brother to play for us then I'd be half wondering if he had contracted some life-limiting illness or something!

Weird approach to life but each to their own.

But neither is it a shining medal of honour. I want our next manager to succeed and I would be happier had he just come from having achieved promotion rather than relegation.

Do I feel that he is the best manager possible for us? I doubt it, but I am worried that he may be the best manager left available to us out of an ever shrinking pool of managers willing to take us on.

Nothing the club has done over the past year has worked out well for us so you'll have to put up with my reserving judgement of how the current recruitment will turn out.

to be honest, you are not saying anything that is wrong.

there have been so many rumours and names changing that most people's heads were done in but i have a feeling things are going to change although we may well have a sticky start to the season, i know nothing about RLB and i know nothing about the others mentioned but i am happy it is sorted in time for pre-season.

a couple of lads have mentioned that word has been heard of KLD wanting to alter things at the club and while nothing can be claimed as 'ground breaking' we have seen the new kit sponsors, different shop, safe standing area, new pitch laid, more coaching staff and after what seems forever, a new coach about to join so it would appear to be correct what they heard, a few notable changes i am sure you will agree.

the hard work begins now though, we have to see the playing staff sorted and the right additions brought in, i do not care what people say about MB, dodds and proc as the squad had dipped well before then so they pretty much had their hands tied...would a different coach rather than MB made a difference, we will never know but it did seem pretty much like 'grab anyone asap' rather than a well thought out advanced plan.

basically, the regime had a little credit in the bank but this summer they must show intentions of improving or that credit is well gone, i do not expect instant promotion but a top 8 place at the very least...only then can any of us really comment on how good/bad all this has been and until then everyone is on a clean slate and should be backed, the next step is just as important, getting those players that are required here.

I really hope so. I’ve just been looking him up and it seems his favoured tactic is 3-4-2-1

He’s 48 and only just starting out in football management. He’s got a history of working with younger footballers. When he had Lorient in the top 5, he done it with one of the youngest squads in the league, at the time.

I’m hopeful we’ve bagged a good up-and-coming head coach.
