Cifuentes could arguably be the best option we’ve been linked with all summer and we may end up accidentally forcing ourselves to appoint him.

Or 'he was on our wanted list from the start, were refused permission to talk to him but he's put pressure on QPR and has been interviewed'.

The club may have been as good as they could've all through this process.

We don't actually know yet.

There must be loads of good fits for head coach with the way we run things. If you're taking the majority (or all) of the recruitment out of the equation you're left with being a good motivator/inspirational, tactical nouse, coaching and man and game management.
Must be loads who fit that bill.

For me personally, thats why I'd rather it wasn't Hecky, he doesn't immediately strike me as someone who would inspire you. That said, and to contradict myself within a few words, you wouldn't look at a Mowbray interview and assume he would fit the bill either, but the players seemed to absolutely love him and gave everything.

In summary, it seems the true measure of a good head coach goes beyond first impressions, which is hard to deal with as a fan in this moment assessing possible candidates we don't really know that much about, particularly after Beale, but I'm gonna give the club the benefit of the doubt on this one and gather my thoughts after 20 games with whoever ends up getting the job.

The Hummel deal and the new manager may be all done in tandem. Nowt for months then all done in 1 press conference.

Welcome Hummel and Michael Laudrup.

I’ve no problem with Mowbray, or you, but in this case you’re either naive or …
You are going have to enlighten me mate. I am often naieve, and no problem with being called it. But are you confident Mowbray asked Bernie to stick the boot in?

With all respect mate, I cannot imagine Mowbray giving much away to Rooney. I appreciate they have the brum connection, but it would be a big surprise if he gave away his Sunderland views. Might be wrong, but Mowbray just doesnt come across as a bloke with time for **** spreading outside of his close circle.

Yeah I thought the same. Rooney does mention stuff that has been rumoured on here and elsewhere. I take stuff like that with a massive pinch of salt like, you're only ever going to get an unbiased, one sided version

As I said either he did that or he didn’t say keep your zip shut
Then I am naive...

I am happy enough with my view of Mowbray being a very decent human being, who built an affiliation with us in his short time here. I struggle to see him teeing up a mate who has no relevance in the game and hasnt had for years to dig us out. I suspect he is a man who does his own dirty work. But my respect for coaches like Mowbray may well be blinding my opinion. <cheers>
