The crack I've heard is that Cifuentes is a MLF and the £250K only applies if Sunderland approach QPR. It's £900K for other clubs.Could only imagine Cifuentes will happen if there’s a release clause and it’s low, say £250k or under
Would be happy with Cifuentes. Especially as it would prove we are willing to pay comp
We aren't actually being linked to a man who changed his name to El Maestro by deed poll are we?
We're Darren Brown and Siegfried and Roy busy?
That's not particularly unusual abroad. The head coach has to fit into a non flexible system..you are a coach to develop talent and do well in the league and cup.
You wont have a say in transfers, recruitment, style of play or support staff.
You see the issue.

Rather large onesAgain, take these ITKs with a grain of salt.

He’s definitely worth paying that mind, we spent similar on Hemir (I think)
It's £1m ...
... if his wages will be less than Still, over three years it's worth it imo.
Isn't the end the best bit of the tit?
If someone is offered the job and he says “I’ll just need a bit of time to see if I can find something better”, I’d just say thanks, but we’ll look elsewhere as well.Surely it'll take longer to agree compensation with QPR, speak to Cifuentes and agree a deal with him than it would to allow Rosenior to speak to Burnley then give us a decision.
I don't really see why we'd be willing to spend on players in order to grow the club and make money in the future, but not for the head coach position.
But by the time Burnley have interviewed Rosenoir and any others, then made a decision it could be another 2 weeks. If they then choose Rosenoir then we have wasted that time so imo we have done the right thing, as it looks like it could turn into another Still/Lens situation. Lesson learned.Surely it'll take longer to agree compensation with QPR, speak to Cifuentes and agree a deal with him than it would to allow Rosenior to speak to Burnley then give us a decision.

It shouldn't be this hard to appoint an exciting head coach. Go to Scandinavia and take a Kim Hellberg or a Eirik Horneland, QPR did it with Cifuentes, Aberdeen did it with Thelin and Norwich did it with Thorup. Go to a big club and take one of the assistants like Ipswich, Birmingham, Boro, Leicester. Go to Germany and take one of their young coaches like Sheff Wed did with Röhl.
How are these clubs appointing seriously exciting coaches despite some having worse squads, worse owners, worse facilities, lower budgets. It all comes back to one man, Speakman. People don't want to work with him.
