Sunderland will have to pay a hefty compensation fee for QPR boss Marti Cifuentes.

The Black Cats have switched their managerial search around dramatically in the last few days with the Spaniard a favourite of leading figures at the club.

But Rangers will ask for a six figure fee for Cifuentes and Sunderland would have no option but to fork out.

Dutchman Pascal Jansen has strangely slipped out of the race after a meeting last week.

And Liam Rosenior also spoke with the seven man interview panel but is comfortable waiting on offers.

Sunderland seem to have many opinions within their ranks with one experienced official keen on St Mirren’s Stephen Robinson and Stockport rising star Dave Challinor.

The saga has also seen Bo Svensson go elsewhere and the elusive Will Still failed to commit either.

In the past Sunderland boobed badly with Michael Beale while the appointment of Tony Mowbray was down to their chief scout knowing him from Blackburn Rovers.

This chase has included input from adviser and Sky Sports pundit Dave Jones. Despite all of this expertise they are yet to get their man.

Load of ****e. He's even including names that he had made up to add a bit of accuracy to his previous inaccurate ****.

Challinor and Robinson - I'm sure He's only included them so people can't criticise him for getting it wrong every single time he's said something about us.

However, he did use the word boobed, so perhaps he's not as much of a twunt as I think.

Just on Rosenior, has anyone actually properly linked him to us? His name just seems to get chucked into reports about other coaches, don't think i've seen an individual story about just him.

Personally I think it seems pretty obvious our first choice was will still, so I don’t think it’s wrong to say Rosenior, or anyone else, wasn’t first choice.

But a couple of things. Firstly people will obviously start shouting out the buzzword of “no ambition”. The reality, I think, is that they’ve almost shown too much ambition.

Secondly, is the situation a mess? Yes I think it is. But I don’t think the mess is necessarily all the fault of the club. I don’t think they can be blamed for taking their time. And I don’t think they can be blamed for showing ambition and going after top young managers from Europe.

I think it’s possible to acknowledge the situation isn’t ideal whilst also not putting all the blame on the club. It’s a middle ground sort of thing.

If Rosenior was still at Hull he wouldnt be looked at…only reason he is now is cos he is free available and cheap simple as that!

No one in their right mind can say this is not a mess.

KLD is the right person and should go no where, sadly he has surrounded himself with speakman and others who has made more mistakes than good decisions

What KLD needs to do now is take control (which i think happens after this is all sorted out)

Who we reckon the 7 man panel would be?

KLD
Speakman
David Bruce
Stuart English

Who would the other 3 be?

Leo Pearlman maybe, Dave Jones? Levin?

Rosenior is no more available, free and cheap than Jansen or Stil will be.

I'd imagine Harvey would be on it. Don't think Bruce would be.

Sartori probably on it as well in some form.

If I was already employed but interested in another role only to turn up to an interview with 7 people sat there I’d be walking out the door.

That just suggests way too many decision makers at the club.

Think it's a bit misleading. I can't imagine the process is a simple as sit down interview. The process will involve different tasks, which will probably be observed by different members of the panel. They'll come together at the end to swap notes.

7 still too many for me. We (my day job) always recommend no more than 5 on a panel.

The only real link I've seen is when he was linked to Birmingham and they said he wanted to wait as he had Championship interest. Only us and Burnley were managerless at the time of the report.

Still think 7 is too many people mind, that’s a lot of potentially differing opinions which would inevitably delay a decision.

Or they could just be making sure he can also make a decent cuppa and egg sandwich for Speakman…so catering will need to weigh in etc.

Yeah he’s not coming failed the interview
Failed how? wanted more money? Wanted a better backroom staff? Wanted better transfer targets? To ambitious? Was he not ambitious enough? Cannot be down to playing styles because they have known his style already

When was last time we paid compo for a manager? Personally think that rules of Cifuentes.

really hope it’s someone they pull out the bag that’s not been linked or talked about so far because they’re all so underwhelming it’s not going to turn anyone’s mood for the better
