Given that we are pretty much starting from scratch now, I think I'm currently patient enough to wait till just before the euros.

After that, pretty sure I'll have a monumental meltdown. :-)

We certainly need one in (including their OWN assistant and/or coaching staff) before the players come back for pre season.

When is that? Mid-June?

Cultural familiarity. Sunderland is a northern club, you will have to deal with the fanbase here who are plain talking and different in a fundamental way from, say, Bournemouth's fanbase. Britain is shades of grey in terms of culture.

Nonsense, mate...all due respect. Pep does alright with the mancs, klopp is a hero with scousers, reidy is a legend at our club and Eddie Howe is pretty well liked up the road. Bally was born in hastings, Charlie Hurley was Irish. It doesn't matter. Results, performance and success is what matters in football. End of.

Non of that contradicts what I said. It's all about margins and it's the same with players, any edge an individual can get in terms of being settled and comfortable is an advantage over another individual that isn't. That doesn't mean you take a second rate Yorkshireman over a world class Brazilian. It means when the margins are small, having someone settle easier is an advantage.

In response to this and other similar posts, the club might not have publically declared it, but it has still played out very publically.

What is the matter with some of our fans, we have tried to get a manager who has turned us down, it happens all the time. We move on

Or alternatively we've very publicly chased a manager for six months who's been out of work for a month and then been gazumped by a club who've been looking for a manager for less than a fortnight because we couldn't close the deal, leaving us staring down the barrel of the caretaker who guided us to near relegation being given the gig full time.

There's only one place we're moving at the moment, and it's not up.

They had 3 days doing the deal we couldn't do in a month.

Lampard is the one I’d be interested in. Played good stuff with Derby’s youngsters but couldn’t really handle Chelsea’s prima Donnas (no one has been able to for years).

Doubt he’d be keen but I’d go for him.

Yes, in a world where we have a selection of equally talented Brazilians, mackems and Yorkshireman perhaps your argument comes in to play. Perhaps..... not really in my opinion. What is actually happening though is the club is looking at managers from across the continent. I suspect that wherever the respective candidates grew up is not on the list of priorities. As it shouldn't be.
