No. The club have been in contact with William Still for a number of months but both parties have kept options open during this period. It has never been as close as people have made out with talks of imminent appointments which is completely untrue. Parties have negotiated but are not getting through significant hurdles.

The club aren’t helping mind with all this mass hysteria being caused by the amount of time it’s taking.

Find someone they want, interview them, negotiate and appoint them.

Why would it be easier for Norwich, Hull and similar sides being more efficient than us? There’s something up on our club if we can’t get things over the line, probably a combination of things but realistic wages and control/policy will be the main issues. If we can’t get the coaches or the players we need we will plummet.

You can say the same about duds managers have signed for the club, giving a manager power in recruitment doesn't necessarily mean you will sign good players.

I have no confidence in Speakman, but I do not want the approach or the system to change I want a new DoF.

And despite my opinions on Speakman, I think a prospective head coach would also look at signings like Clarke, Ballard, Hume and the work that's been done within the academy and think that the approach and setup is actually good.

My gut tells me that Speakman is the one conducting the search but KLD heavily involved. I think the rumours from earlier in the summer that Speakman was leaving were tosh.

Devils advocate but they may have done this, and are being patient with Still, who is the one slowing things down.

on one hand I’d applaud the patience for waiting to get their man. But it’s a risky strategy if he then changes his mind.

my point being that I don’t think it’s necessarily the club who are dragging their heels.

With the Wicky story breaking earlier, it could well be that the club are pursuing Still but have other targets too.

If we start the season with Dodds there will be hell on from the fans. The hope that he will be replaced by a competent head coach is what dragged me through the last few weeks of this god awful campaign. And also the reason many of fans have renewed.

I hope to Christ it hasn’t fallen through at this stage as that could well lead to another panic appointment.

We have had 3 months to unofficially talk to candidates, three bastard months. Now other clubs are also looking for head coaches or managers.

Even Pep, for me one of the greatest to ever do it, isn't in control of recruitment at City. Tuchel said while he was Chelsea boss he wanted nothing to do with recruitment and just wanted to coach.

Why some of our fans can't grasp that football has moved on from one man doing everything within a club I have no idea.

Definitely has a say though, not a coincidence pretty much every player they sign fits right into his system. Got rid of some pretty big names at Barca and Bayern too to bring in his own players I think didn’t he?
