What have I missed?

Woke up to an empty house, wife and kid staying at the in-laws, I was going to spend the weekend working on a stupid novel about pagan moon-worshippers in dark ages Yorkshire.

Stared at the Gustav Doré triptych on my study wall while I listened to O Fortuna by Carl Orff. **** writing, I was in the headspace to sacrifice a ****ing goat.

One idle click on this forum and my head's filled with images of a ginger Belgian from Waterloo.

****ers. The lot of you.

The goalposts change, as you well know.

They do. But some have been solid on Still and provided what they heard. During this time, the same posters OTR have mocked all info. Now the very same posters have now went full circle and agreed with comments from others and I on this board.

They have some brass neck I give you that. Snide jokes about the reason I left RTG, guessing my employment and making up nonsense , all to now agree what I said on here 3/4 weeks ago <laugh>

It's not done still. I said it was complicated and expensive and will take time. But I do feel we are getting there.

Does him being out of work not make it less expensive as we no longer pay compo?

Is it expensive still cause of what he wants himself and who he wants to bring with him?

I always assumed it would be done quickly but I know **** all about any of it so glad to hear you say it isn't taken so long cause they have been knocked back but because they still working away on the deal.

Pure speculation but I think the club are currently weighing up their option to make sure we get the right candidate and we are still on course for plan A
From the speculation I think plan A is wider than one name. I think it’s Still, Maric or Svensson.
I reckon plan B probably now looks something like Rohl, Rosenior, Wagner or Heckingbottom. Arguably plan b could be seen as just as good if not better.

It's the logistics of it all and change of staff on the front bench mate.

I hope it's a decent length contract as well...something that implies a bit of confidence in it on both sides...not a year with an option or anything that's got a "let's see how it goes" feel about it.

Sounds like it mate and I'll be thrilled.

Still is definitely plan A, no doubt about that in my mind.

Plan B would have been Rohl, Svensson or Maric and Plan C would have been moving on to Rosenior/Wagner or Hecky.

That's how my brain was organising them anyway.

People act like being turned down is a bad thing but I wouldn't say it's any kind of embarrassment at all.

Ambition should always slightly outreach your grasp. If you're not being turned down by anyone, you might not be aiming high enough to begin with.

Learned that in nightclubs as a young man. Or rather I learned it several times over waking up with the sun streaming in on what I would consider a mistake lying next to me.
As Robert Browning says:
Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what’s a heaven for?

I was certainly turned down often enough not to question my ambition!

I was talking about a hypothetical situation. Like you say, no reason to believe anyone has turned us down.

"Hello, we're just compiling a list of potential managers, would you be willing to move your family to the far NE coast?"

"No, okay thanks for being direct."

Moreover, I am not taking a swipe at anyone who shares what they have heard. Not giving anyone abuse from RTG who looks at this board.

Would be nice if it was reciprocal instead of constant abuse. I don't frequent that place anymore but lots of my close mates do and feel compelled to tell me.

Massive shame.

If anyone has, or does, turn us down, I reckon that's more likely to be the reason than Speakman insisting his mother-in-law has final say on team selection, or whatever the latest insane conspiracy theory is.

They're arguing amongst themselves otr about who said what and when...comical.

From what I've read, and been told, Still is a perfectionist who looks at every detail.

If he was offered the job on the 11th of April the negotiations would've started then.

Who can he bring, where will he and they live, who will be allowed to leave, who'll be signed, what schools are available, who'll be scouting, etc etc etc.

Any manager we'd like won't just be using the Steve Bruce method.

A) Negotiate personal contract and wages.

B) Take the job and hope for the best knowing the worst outcome is the sack and a big payoff.
