If we hire someone immediately we will hire a person who wasn't good enough a week ago.

Just need to wait it out now unfortunately.

I agree mate, I just have a feeling we will end up appointing someone at the end of the season who was out of work anyway…and could have appointed earlier.

Not basing that on anything other than gut feeling. Thankfully I’m usually wrong

I do think we now need to take a long hard look at the entire coaching staff. It's clear Dodds isn't fit to be a stand in for us again, unless he develops as a coach.

People need to be doing the jobs they are capable of.

There was a hole to fill and it feels like we filled it with a hole.

Lessons need to be learned or this toxicity becomes irreparable.

I've been pretty vocal about asking for patience.

A move like that would force-feed me some humble pie.

It just would not make sense to me. At all.

Best case scenario, if we sounded someone out and they said they were enjoying/needed a break from the game but would speak to us in the summer, only to watch us get pummelled like this... ouch.

If they turned around and said they didn’t want to stand in they would have been vilified, they are in a very difficult position, there is no way they should lose their jobs over this.

No it doesn't. Agreed. But the times they've tried to step up it's been clear as day they are miles out of depth.
And that's without any elite level career to give a semblance of credibility unfortunately.

Dont think that is fair on them. They have repeatedly been thrust into a position that they clearly aren't ready for, it akin to picking someone off the production line at Nissan and saying there you go just run the company. Yeah they'd give it a go and do their best but they would not have the skill set to do a good job.
Now the person who put them into that position, repeatedly, well, they need to take a good hard look at their performance at the end of the season.
Oh and by the way both coaches have been working at a higher level than the academy and have been for some time. Details are important

You would really hope that if target number 1 would come in now that everyone would give them time and not judge anything on the last few games of a bad season.

I can see why they would hold off, but I can also see the sense of getting them in now (if available)

Given the hysterical responses on here and the match threads over the last few months, I think there are many who won’t… sadly.

My concern is that the hysterics could well hamper the club's decision making. Suitable head coaches could be available now but avoiding the unwarranted negative reaction that Beale got must now be part of their thinking. A poor start will only amplify the negativity. The self-appointed superfans will then see their hysterics as justified and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Agree completely. We have lost the momentum we had and whoever comes in will struggle to make a difference in the remaining games.
It’s about getting the right person in not damage limitation for this season. A reset in the summer and look to build confidence and momentum.
Things can change very quickly in the championship. Look at Huddersfield under Corberan going from relegation battlers to play off finalists from one season to the next. Boro and WBA last season going from near the bottom to in and around play offs. If we make the right appointment and address the key gaps in the squad we can have a good season next season.

If we make the right appointment early enough it shouldn't be an issue. If a candidate rules himself out because he's worried about fan reaction,then he isn't the right appointment. He must have confidence in his ability to work with and to improve these players,and confidence in the ownership to know they are going to back him with recruitment in the areas we need. As fans,we have to be avoid becoming hysterical in defeat and realise the progress will be two steps forward and one back, a lot of the time,for a while yet.
As we've said many times on here,the who and when next appointment is crucial and,in my view,will make or break the KLD era.

If the person they want is available now we should be appointing him now and letting them bed in before the summer. There's no margin for error only because they've pissed away the goodwill they had on Beale and recruitment.

They haven't pissed any of my goodwill away. The reaction to Beale was ridiculous and embarrassing. He wasn't the greatest appointment but he certainly wasn't anywhere near as bad as some people have made out. If the next manager gets the same response, we'll never get anywhere.

He’s a free agent so if it was going to be him, we’d surely look to get him in now.

Accountability is important and there doesn't appear to be much of it at our club at the moment. Dodds hiding behind learning curves etc is not what's needed at 1st team level - it's academy stuff.

Sorry, but I think that is absolute bollocks. Beale is a good coach. You might like Solskjaer, there will be plenty of people who don't. If Solskjaer came in now, how much difference would he make in the short term? Very little is the answer and due to that, we would have the same ridiculous reactions and the same people calling for his head. What is required is patience.

But we've been over all this before and we're just going round in circles.

Fair point and to be fair even if we had Pep you can't account for the number of individual mistakes today. The problem is you can almost see any confidence completely drain if we concede a goal.

I dont think that's the case. Modern football rarely works like that now. It's becoming all the more rare.
