Interesting post from Hawyatt Earp imo

'The fact of the matter is, Will Still is the litmus test of this ownership group and its ambition.

Whether he’s successful or not is irrelevant at this moment. The fact that he’s clearly been KLD’s number 1 choice since Mowbray left and now that he’s free and available and obviously interested enough to travel to the North East twice, Kyril simply cannot afford to fail to get him.

For me, if we fail to get him onboard it’s a clear sign we’re going nowhere under these owners and it’s time for them to sell up. If they do get him. And more importantly back him, then maybe, just maybe they can get us back to the Premier…'

Im not sure I agree with him that it’s that binary.

This new head coach saga is reminding me of Crossroads, plenty of twists and turns but not getting anywhere:emoticon-0113-sleep

if it has been a load a **** , i'll be pissed off because it's not just a random bloke at the pub, so it will really piss me off because it would of just been total lies from someone in the deep end

Yeah that's a fair point. High enough for you to trust but maybe ahead of himself, like before ......

Certainly agree with the sentiment. I don’t think they should sell up if they don’t get him - but they need to nail this appointment. This Still thing has played out for far too long - and to be honest it’s probably one of (if not the only) appointments they could make to justify this wait.

Me neither but I found it interesting and he does have an insight.

The problem with all of this is that, in our hearts, we know it's all a bit of a poisoned chalice anyway ...

... promotion to the PL would probably prove to be an anticlimax.

We'd lose more often, have VAR to contend with and the Mags bringing thousands of free scarves <laugh>

I think this is a bit over the top, it’s not a sign we’re going nowhere - we may well get someone better in. It is an indication that there’s something not going right in what’s on offer and/or the process and/or what we’re willing to pay and/or the people operating it. Can’t say what with any certainty but it is a bit of a litmus test for what we’re offering and our processes. They need to change something and change it now ready for this window imho.

Interesting that this poster (assume it's from RTG?) is taking internet rumours as Gospel (KLD interested, Still interested, Still has travelled etc) and will judge the ownership on his/her perceived failure to land the target the internet is saying is no.1 choice.

None at all. KLD (and Speakman) has much more at stake and more skin in the game in making SAFC successful than any of us, there’s no way he jeopardises all that to develop Mike Dodds.

He’s shown plenty of times he’s capable of being ruthless.
Totally agree with you, also can’t see where anyone could say that Dodds can developed into a head coach.

If he goes to Lens couldn’t it just as easily be that we can’t offer European football. Or the package that a team coming off the back of a season in the Champions League can offer. It doesn’t have to be something rotten in Denmark.

It’s an ambitious appointment, the risk you run with that is that you can fall just short, it doesn’t necessarily reflect badly on the club if Still goes elsewhere.
