Struber would make a lot of sense. Austrian, red bull connection. Having said that I would be surprised if he didnt want a manager crack again. Poyet wouldnt surprise me at all. He strikes me as someone who would enjoy the overarching role, who would like having a vision to aspire to. He would tick my box of wanting some valuable experience as well, and he could well be the sort of voice KLD wants around him.

Edit to add I think Maric loves possession based football. That seems to be a directiom of travel for us. Poyet values possession too. Could well be a really good fit for everyone.

Poyet spoke really well about his time at Sunderland on the What the Falk podcast I think it was, a couple of years ago. Wanted specific players for a specific way of playing but was given third and fourth choices. If I remember right he seemed at constant loggerheads with the DOF ( Congerton? )

At least he would be able to see both sides if appointed to that role. I would be against it in theory.

There's not much info out there on Maric's preferred system and style, but I think if you look at the clubs and coaches that he has worked for you can definitely expect a few things.

He's a Red Bull educated coach, which means high pressing, counter attacking football. If he's wedded to the 4-2-2-2 that Leipzig play or the diamond midfield with 2 strikers that Salzburg play we need to recruit very specific players for that. I'm sure that the two strikers will please a lot of people also:emoticon-0140-rofl:.

There's not a lot of information about his Bayern u19 side but Bayern have played 4-2-3-1 pretty consistently for a number of years so I expect that he's played that for his side. He is also head of coaching and playing philosophy, so I presume that the first team has ideas of his being implemented. A much more controlled style at Bayern, which I think our squad is currently more suited for, but I'm not sure that that's a good thing and maybe change is needed?

I have long wanted us to employ a Red Bull coach, so I hope that's the direction Maric goes if he is appointed here. As I said, though, very specific players are needed for that style.

I think he might be a bit different to the red bull coaching mentality. Just a theory but he was there and moved on again. Bayern are a bit different again. I would put a few quid on us seeing a high possession style similar to Russell Martins teams.

With Salzburg from 2016-19 with Marco Rose, then went with him to both Monchengladbach and Dortmund where they played the RB style, then went to Leeds with Marsch who initially tried to implement the RB system but changed it and failed. I can't see it being as possession based as Martin just based on working under Rose for so long.

The interviews I’ve seen and read of him, he’s mentioned he wants to play possession based, energetic football with an emphasis on width.

See the things i'm reading from what he's written in the past, it's a much more high press counter attack style he prefers. Guess a mix of both would be great.

There’s a business side of the DOF role which I can see Speakman performing. Could Struber and Poyet do that ? Or would we restructure so someone manages the signings etc

Who finishes their season first Still or Maric. Basically when could we expect either to be announced? That is if its any of them.

If you check out the Training Guru podcast which he did about 6 weeks ago, he talks about his style.

He says he prefers to teach players about the game rather than tactics so they know how to react to any situation.

He also says that he's not a typical Red Bull coach and that whilst he agrees with the need to press high up the pitch when out of possession, he likes a more patient style when in possession. He name checks Michels and Cruyff as well as Russell Martin (the last one is not in the vicinity of the same sentence as the former two).
