Is completely wrong.

Any device on your home network provides an opportunity for data loss from any other device on the same network.

The term “virus” is very apt. Once a virus infects your network, you have no idea where it will hide, just waiting to an opportunity to do you harm. It isn’t about the apps you load, it’s the malware preloaded into the stick.

I would check to see if you have been hacked, because if you didn’t post about putting a preloaded stick in your tv then someone else has posted using your profile.

Hang on. Yes, to have been 100% clear, I should have typed "If I had a f/stick (and not a pre-loaded one) ....". Still, what you are doing is choosing to totally ignore the numerous times / caveats I mentioned in these posts to clarify I wasn't referring to pre-loaded sticks. Are you a journalist for the gutter press by any chance? Let's not bore every one to death any further. Those articles are scare tactics, they are laughable, and if you're sensible (as in not buying a pre-loaded stick off a stranger , not downloading dodgy apps, etc) then the risk is neglible. If people want to believe them and be scared off by them, then that's their choice, but there's tens of millions who won't be and will continue to be just fine
 
First of all I'm no techy, BUT even I can see that if hackers can get into companies like JLR, M+S, The coop, Tesco, also Banks and government department systems they will have no bother at all waltzing into the personal systems of anyone who downloads loads apps, logs into free WiFi, and does stuff like online shopping.

Its completely different though

Even in those big companies, its usually human error that opens a door

But sophisticated cyber criminals are not targetting random people who might online shop etc
keyloggers and stuff work in a simple way
Its not sophisicated stuff

Its a bit like putting a net in the sea and catching some fish

Sometimes it is more about knowing what fish you want to catch and where you have to go to catch them.
There are multiple levels of cybercrime and sometimes the money is in small fish that you catch by the hundreds of thousands at a go and other times it is aimed at big fish.

Didn’t know. Cheers. Might give it a rewatch. Does reflect the fact the writer was a bit of a anti Thatcher leftie from what I remember.
