Was not a fan of Birdbox, and it did have a fair amount of hype, it generated a ton of memes because of its pretextIt amazes me that Birdbox or whatever it was called had more hype. That was a total damp squib.

Sounds a good summerBrid - my fond memory is this... a brilliant summer season...
'64 and my parents spotted me with a cig in my mouth as I was collecting fares on the back of a bumper-car on the ride in Brown's Amusements.
It did not go down well being a 17 year old staying away for the summer for the first time.
Good job they never got wind of me waking up in a farmer's field just outside Driffield after a particular heavy drinking session - a bloody cabbage patch to boot.
Never found out what happened to the lass I was with that night !
The jukebox in the cafe attached to the Brown's Arcade was salvation...

Last couple of times I've been I've had fish n chips at a little cafe called Four Seasons just over the bridge north side !Whitby is by far the nicest of the three, though The Magpie is no longer the best fish & chip restaurant, just the most famous.
'Twas. Next year was even better. Worked the summer at Butlins in Skeggy. No cabbage patch required - the bunk-bed in the chalet or the gritty beach sand sufficed.Sounds a good summer![]()
Planned to make my first visit to Bridlington when I was last in Hull in 2010. Was part of a day trip to also see Bempton Cliffs, Goathland(I love Heartbeat), Whitby and Scarborough organised by my sister-in- law. Spent too much time at Bempton Cliffs, Goathland and Whitby(queuing at The Magpie) and as we had to be back in Hull for a family event had to miss out on Bridlington on our way home via Scarborough
My husband worked when a student in the 50's at a fish restaurant in Bridlington on the Esplanade(2 summer seasons) followed by a summer season in Scarborough. Yardley Tiger also worked with him in Bridlington for one summer season.
Never tire of watching the reruns - same with "All Creatures Great & Small". Wonderful earthy characters, and the scenery sorely missed.Love "Heartbeat" too MrsBMB. Its been shown every Saturday night here for years...never miss an episode. They are back to showing the original series so I'm watching it all over again from the beginning. A real nostalgia trip for me !!!!

Brings back memories Nights in White Satin. Last time I saw the Moody Blues was in Oct '69 @ Leeds U.U. Sat night hop. They played most of the tracks from "Days of Future Past" - up there as one of the best live performances I've ever seen.It is currently on here 5 nights a week having started from the beginning a few months ago with series 1 to 7 and will end in a week or so. Watch it over the evening meal and love how the music from the sixties blends into the episodes. A favourite covers a foot and mouth event and a featured song by the Moody Blues.
The last overseas trip before retirement by my husband was arranged so he could attend the Heartbeat Concert held in Birmingham in 1986. Unfortunately I could not get away from my job to join him.

LUU was brilliant for getting quality acts, and were a favourite venue for many big acts.
Line-up either side of Christmas '70 is a sampling of the quality. Any wonder I stayed in Leeds for 7 years.
Happy days.

Magic !
I rewatched that recently, it's very underrated. That scene where he is lobbing pebbles into the dead soldiers skull is a really haunting image, its the same actor who is playing Freddy Mercury currently in Bohemian RhapsodyFinished watching The Pacific last night. Not ashamed to say there was a couple of times when I shed a tear. Excellent series to show how brutal the war truly was.
Just watched I Am Mother - cerebral sci-fi. movie, up there with Moon. If you have watched it, can anyone tell me what happened to the dog and what was the significance of the paper dog left behind for the woman?
And all series 4 is available too download. So that !
