Hull City: campaign against name change still growing The campaign led by City Till We Die – a group representing fans and, fanzines, and groups like the Hull City Supporters Cooperative (the supporters’ trust) – is continuing to hit the headlines, with the final decision in the hands of The FA Council. Their petition now has over 13,000 signatures, and figures from across the game are lining up to condemn Assem Allam’s campaign to rename the 110 year-old Club for spurious reasons – connected to a dispute with the City Council over the future ownership of the KC Stadium. Supporters’ Trusts from across the divisions have also been submitting, from the Premier League to the Conference Premier, condemning the attempt, but also calling for a formal consultation process for fans so that future cases like this can be dealt with in the right way. A spokesman for Supporters Direct said: “The Hull City fans, led by City Till We Die, have fought a well organised, effective and very professional campaign. They’ve represented the clear desire of the fans of Hull City that the Club’s heritage is respected, not simply thrown away at the whim of a single person. Every single poll that is taken tells the owner that his plan is not acceptable, and we back those calls.” “It is our view that decisions on issues such as these need to be subject to a process that gives fans the opportunity to be formally consulted, and their explicit consent gained, on issues like this. The identity of a club itself goes to the heart of what it means to be a supporter” http://www.supporters-direct.org/ne...ame-change-still-growing#sthash.j8qprUlp.dpuf
When did the name change from the Tigers Co Op? Did the chairman of it consult with all its members?? I never got a vote on this!! Oh dear.
well I mean, just how effective cant be announced until after April. the KC holds 25,400, of the season pass holders, just how many have sent a postcard against the plans or signed the petition?
You'll have to ask the FA how many postcards they've got, they don't limit fan opinion to season ticket holders only.
Anyone can pick up a card and send it in, I've seen quite a few on Twitter where people have crossed out the 'As a supporter of Hull City AFC' bit and put their own club. Now it's with the FA, it's no longer just a Hull City issue, this could happen to any club whose owner comes up with some daft scheme. Pretty much every supporters trust has now submitted a letter to the FA asking them to reject the application.
This is a very good point, and I was actually told today that two clubs are watching our situation very closely, if our name change is approved they will follow. Was also told it's not the far east market we are trying to break into, its America. We have a sponsor lined up for next year that would match the deals of the top teams in this league, but they will only go ahead with it if our name is changed to Hull Tigers.
I've heard today that it!s Disney who are interested in buying us, as we're rapidly becoming a Mickey Mouse club.
I want to know what the reaction will be of all the pro name changers when Allam is told he can't change the name. Will they then realise the only reason they were willing to allow the name change is due to the fear that Allam will walk? Is that fear a good enough reason to change our name? especially for those of us more fearless types? You can see quite clearly the posters on here who are weak kneed and have surrendered to bully tactics. How long will Allam be here for or indeed alive? 3 yrs maybe 6? Is it fair to allow the name change to occur due to the whim of our clubs custodian during only a fraction of its existence? How would we all think if someone changed the name of our loved ones? Like we'd all say "yeah thats a good idea. . . ." Its a stupid idea and its only to eradicate the word City from our name. I have watched city from a young un until today. City. If we are not to be called City then I dont want to know.
