The City Till We Die submission has now been sent to the FA.![]()
Hull City: campaign against name change still growing
The campaign led by City Till We Die – a group representing fans and, fanzines, and groups like the Hull City Supporters Cooperative (the supporters’ trust) – is continuing to hit the headlines, with the final decision in the hands of The FA Council.
Their petition now has over 13,000 signatures, and figures from across the game are lining up to condemn Assem Allam’s campaign to rename the 110 year-old Club for spurious reasons – connected to a dispute with the City Council over the future ownership of the KC Stadium.
Supporters’ Trusts from across the divisions have also been submitting, from the Premier League to the Conference Premier, condemning the attempt, but also calling for a formal consultation process for fans so that future cases like this can be dealt with in the right way.
A spokesman for Supporters Direct said:
“The Hull City fans, led by City Till We Die, have fought a well organised, effective and very professional campaign. They’ve represented the clear desire of the fans of Hull City that the Club’s heritage is respected, not simply thrown away at the whim of a single person. Every single poll that is taken tells the owner that his plan is not acceptable, and we back those calls.”
“It is our view that decisions on issues such as these need to be subject to a process that gives fans the opportunity to be formally consulted, and their explicit consent gained, on issues like this. The identity of a club itself goes to the heart of what it means to be a supporter”

When did the name change from the Tigers Co Op? Did the chairman of it consult with all its members?? I never got a vote on this!! Oh dear.
that's a bit premature, that can't be said till April, after the decision - surely!

You obviously don't know the difference between 'effective' and 'successful'.
well I mean, just how effective cant be announced until after April.
the KC holds 25,400, of the season pass holders, just how many have sent a postcard against the plans or signed the petition?

hmm did CTWD send postcards for fans at other clubs to send in?You'll have to ask the FA how many postcards they've got, they don't limit fan opinion to season ticket holders only.

solidarity, and all that.
Have the osc published the results of its vote as it did close yesterday?
My son in law is a season pass holder at St Mary's.
He is also a fan of (note not supporter) New England Patriots.
He has seen them play live twice I think.
This season he spend twice as much on Partriots merchandise than Southampton.
Last night I was told that there is a movement within elements of the lower and middle tiers of the PL to become more global. The NFL marketing model is sited as the way to go.
What Assem Allam said about Man City becoming Manchester Hunters is actually (not that name) something that has been talked about amongst clubs outside of the top six.
I was told by a sports lawyer that in the not too distant future we could be following down the path of cricket and RL. His question to me was, when the press is full of Tigers this and Red Devils that, when Sky push the dragons vs swans down our necks, will I not get caught up in it all or will I sit there moaning that the game had gone to pot.
There are many clubs watching how this all pans out.
Assem Allam. May lack support for the change in the stands, but in the boardrooms of other clubs and in the membership of the FA there is a keen eye on developments.
It hasn't changed my mind but it has given me something to think about.
I've heard today that it!s Disney who are interested in buying us, as we're rapidly becoming a Mickey Mouse club.
