He's a natural goal poacher, if he gets 10 plus goals then whoever gets him could be laughing.

What odds would the bookies give you for more than10 premier legue goals next season?

On a serious note, what will his wage demands be? I have seen somewhere he is on 90 grand a week. Admittedly to get a move he will have to take a cut but by how much? I used to rate him in a Sunderland shirt, even during the 5-1 I thought he looked decent, certainly seemed to have good movement.

He has two years left on a basic wage of £65,000 per week.

you have to make a bid or be in talks to be turned down....<whistle>

Bent does not want to play for the mags
Wants Fulham move instead due to his past with SAFC, Only way he will sign for them is if Fulham or the German moves fail which would leave him in limbo as he hates it at Villa.

From a **** journo

Extract from the Telegraph:

"Bent and his agent are understood to have been far from impressed following a meeting with Newcastle’s Director of Football Joe Kinnear, who suggested he would only offer Aston Villa £2m for the England international.

Newcastle were also well adrift of the player’s wage demands and Bent will now almost certainly join Fulham as they have already offered double what Newcastle were prepared to pay and are willing to offer him close to the £65,000-a-week he earns at Villa."

hadn't read that. the 2m part is shocking. jfk must still think players are that cheap!

Wages were always going to be the stumbling block on him coming here to be honest. However the Telegraph is saying Joke innear offered Villa only 2 mill for him which is an embarassing offer from us. Regardless of if you dont want him here he is worth more than that. I expect the wages offered by out illustrious owner were probably less than half what he earns now.

I suspect that might become a common occurrence.

Of course, Joke may have thought he was talking to somebody completely different.

Just be right for once Lee, just once

Oh well another one not coming.

Would have been prepared to give him a go, more for experience than anything, which we lacked badly last season.

Anyway, could be that we've dodged a bullet with Bent.

Fair do's, forget and move on, quickly.
