    But seriously, Darren Bent...

The bloke has pace and undeniable finished ability. In the right team he can be dynamite. He can be lazy sometimes, but if we could get him for 5-6m I'd be happy.

I don't give a flying **** if he is an ex-mackem, if he can score goals, he's ok in my books.

I could imagine him linking up with the likes of Marv and Gouff.

    ---------------

    Second part -

Would you sign someone to play along side him? I think a good target man and Bent would work well. If Carroll wasn't so injury prone, I'd love to see Carroll and Bent together. That would be deadly.

But I think we should look for someone else.

    Who though?

I think it's nailed on that Cisse will go so for me we need 2 new strikers.

According to Villa fans this is no longer true. Apparently his legs have gone, possibly as a result of his recent injuries. This has rendered him ineffective to the point of Villa wanting rid at all costs. Sounds cracking.

I think he's distinctly average and always have done. If he was one of 4 strikers and basically filling a back up role then ok. However with the wages he demands, I very much doubt that will be the case. The only upside I can see is the hunger he will have in World Cup year.

Don't want Bent at all. If Cisse leaves (which I hope he doesn't) we will need three new strikers.

I tell you I wish Sunderland had been back in for him, he is a hell of a player, give him the ball on the half way line and watch him go!, we now have Watmore though who is BETTER than bent to me, and Gerinccherini is world class. P S do you want Danny graham !.

Sort the wonga shirt thing out with Cisse and get a big lad up front for him to play off. Bent is nobodies answer atm as he has lost his pace which is why he used to score goals... one M Owen mark 2

He's not as quick as he used to be, but he still has an effective amount of pace.

He was put on the sidelines to make way for the likes of Benteke who was usually partnered by someone who could link up with him better, mainly Weiman.

Bent's effectiveness can depend on which team he's in.

    Wow.

Bent's **** now lads, he'd lost his pace by the end of his time with us, he was out a while you may recall, and never looked the same after.

If you put the ball plum in front of him to run onto, he will score, but then you don't really play that way.

There's always talk about his finishing, but even when we adored him,we often discussed the amount he missed, there was a 3-1 win v Spurs, he scored 2, missed 2 pens, and missed about 3 sitters as well as couple half chances.

I doubt he'd become a hero there, more likely just swallow a huge chunk of your transfer kitty and wage budget.

On a serious note, what will his wage demands be? I have seen somewhere he is on 90 grand a week. Admittedly to get a move he will have to take a cut but by how much? I used to rate him in a Sunderland shirt, even during the 5-1 I thought he looked decent, certainly seemed to have good movement.

He did score in that game actually.

Nobody scored in the 0-3 like.

    Except Sess, AJ & Vaughan.

    <ok>
