Not too sure on your range. Looking at "new artists" e.g. started in this century? Of even more established performers but have not released new material in the last few years?
And "legacy" - setting new trends? songs/music that still get played?

So would Roger Waters count? Rick Wakeman?

I am at the stage now where I prefer watching live pub bands and buskers who are just trying to earn a living or make a few quid extra on the side. A lot of them have a lot more talent than the current crop of manufactured sh*te.
As for the old school of Gilmour, Jagger etc pleased I seen them when they were at the top of their game.

Gallaghers? Id far rather listen to them than Dylan. And before anyone jumps in with how original Bib Dylan is /was, consider whether he ripped anyone off (Joan Baez?) in terms of his style and creativity.

The question, in the OP, was ....

"What legacy will the current top performers leave?"

I've no idea how Rick Wakeman comes into that equation tbh.

Dylan 'ripped off' loads of people ...

    ... everyone does.

The Gallaghers ripped off the Beatles almost entirely.

The Beatles ripped off everyone, before them, as did the Rolling Stones.

    Music is music is music.

I don't know what you define as legacy. Your thread, so no argument as to what you want to include.

So for example, Rick Wakeman was a pioneer of electronic instruments and using them in a musical rather than "effects" way. He has all the Yes work, plus over 90 solo albums. Hs played to huge audiences all over the world. And still releasing new work. So for you no "legacy". Fine, not to your liking. But what does it take to get into your "hall of fame"?

Did you miss the bit where I said 'current top performers' ...

... not being rude but you seem to have totally missed the point, twice.

I didn't say he wasn't to my liking, I've paid to see him 3 times in various guises.

In fact he proves my point, perfectly.

Off license sales must be through the roof ...

... I totally agree he's left a legacy but no one could say he's a current top performing artist.

    Current top performers,
    Does McCartney still perform ?
    Can't stand the fooker personally.
Etc to others like Jagger etc, Dylan was a shìt singer,

Paul Weller is the only one i can think of that still performs and records new material.

I ignored him, as pop, back in the day ...

... but saw him at Glastonbury and ate humble pie.

I'd put him above Queen tbh, better songs and much less pompous.

    He's a hard pill to swallow ...

    ... but I bet I could name 100 covers you'd love.

    That's a legacy imo.

I'm not sure any modern band will have the same type of legacy that some bands or artists from the past have had. I still listen to the likes of Floyd, the Doors, Hendrix so some of that is near on 60 year old. Struggling to think of any modern day or artist that will have that sort of impact and still be popular and listened to 60 years after they were hitting the charts for the first time.
