Real, fair enough. Barca? No way in hell they will be able cough up enough cash

Apparently, Goofy's father-in-law has been telling the Spanish press that Goofy has been talking to Barca.
It's a nice relief knowing that Real's attention isn't on one of our stars for a change, with Barca reportedly interested too, lets see if Liverpool can fight off the potential suitors this time around.
Exactly, it was all well and good criticising us(with hindsight) for selling Bale and praising Liverpool for seeing off a feeble attempt from Arsenal to sign Suarez but this is where the reality kicks in, if Real and Barca are interested.
I personally can't wait until Suarez leaves the Premier League, he's one of the worst cheats in the league and having all the pundits defending him this season has been infuriating. However, I do think Liverpool would be stronger without him if they can get about £80mill for him and spend it on the squad. Liverpool aren't like us, in that they can pay in the top bracket of wages and with CL football to offer they have a good chance of signing some top players. I guess the ideal scenario for me would be Suarez leaving in January and putting them under pressure to spend it straight away in a window where anyone who's wanted at their club is overpriced.
He ain't leaving, reason being Real and Barca think they dictate the fee....wrong.
No doubt as part of him agreeing to sign a new improved contract last season were promises that he would get his "dream move" provided the price is right for LFC, the £68m being touted from Marca is a joke in the current market, it'll take a fee similar to Bale's to get through to John Henry and start negotiations, but both Spanish clubs won't pay what LFC value him at.
Michael Owen and Steve McMannaman had to run their contract down before the got their respective moves to Real because unlike other clubs Liverpool didn't bend over for them, Real or Barca will have to pay the fee LFC want or go elsewhere looking for bargains.
This is all the same as Bale

The Arse "bid" for Suarez was similar to how Utd "bid" for Bale. Bale, at the time of his departure had plenty of contract to run.
As has been said, whatever attempt Real may or may not have made last season for Suarez pales into insignificance compared to the effort that went into poaching Bale. If that ramps up to similar magnitude only then will we be able to praise Liverpool for doing what Spurs should have done (if they manage to resist that is)
You've got CL so you've got a better chance than we had though
Not really Spurm, Real(and Le Arse) tried last season to lure him away and failed and he even signed a new contract to guarantee LFC are in the driving seat on any prospective fee.
Don't remember Bale's move being similar and unlike were Bale and his agent were able to force Spurs hand LFC put Wenger and Real and Suarez and his agent in their place and stood firm and ultimately reinforced their say on any future deal.
Not sure I'd agree with that.
£70m for Suarez is about "right" (not that any player deserves those sort of price tags). Suarez is now in his prime, I can't see him getting any better and at 27, the sort of money he'll be bought for means that re-sale value will be nowhere near the figure paid for him. Bale was 23/24 when he joined Real, Real not only paid for the player's current ability but also the likelihood of his improvement, it was an investment as well as a purchase for a star player. Also add to the fact Bale is a much more marketable brand than Suarez, his reputation throughout the game will forever prevent him becoming a true global superstar brand like the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Bale, Zlatan etc are/ will be, even if he is on a similar wavelength of talent. A fantastic player but £70m is more than enough, it'd make him the 3rd highest single transfer fee behind Bale and Ronaldo (I think) and that's about right, Kaka was bought for less after being a contender of the WPOTY as well as being the winner of it the season before that.
Of course though like you say it's Pool's prerogative to dictate what fee they feel is acceptable but I personally think anything over £70m is ott.
Fair enough, but we've already succeeded were Spurs failed in so much as we have "resisted" and even strengthened our bargaining position.
And yes should we end up selling Suarez the CL lure will kick in, provided all of the Suarez fee goes into the transfer kitty.
