I realised there was maybe a step missing in my step-by-step guide but thought once he clicks alert preferences, it would be obvious to uncheck the 'Tags you' box. <whistle>

Yeah, your description was pretty sound, but though there was that slight ambiguity on that point that might make it worthwhile checking, given that we're talking about @Red Hadron Collider.

Just to check: You have to click on "Alert Preferences" and there's a whole list with boxes that can be ticked. You're not looking for a tick next to "Alert Preferences" in the drop-down menu.

Apologies if you've already understood that.

I clicked on alert preferences and none of the boxes were ticked.

then tick them, save and then go back in and untick again.

technology at its finest.

half the messages i saw tagging me never came to me at all.

This is what I've got:

  • Replies to a watched thread
Someone replies to a thread you are watching
  • Attaches a file to a watched thread
Someone replies and attaches a file to a thread you are watching
  • Quotes your message
Someone directly quotes one of your messages in a thread
  • Tags you in a message
Someone tags you in a message
  • Likes your message
Someone likes one of your messages in a thread

ok so tick it and save.

start there and see if it resets the database or whatever the **** this site has.

then untick it after and resave.

so you are getting emails... best thing is to call them junk..... I wonder if i ask and see if a super mod or something can look.
