Most under the age of 25 will think I'm mad for even suggesting any if this but I will try not to sound like too much of a dinosaur , but am I the only one who hates instant access to everything? What I mean is the way you can find live streams to games , the way you can access goals at 5pm on a Saturday instead of waiting for match of the day , the way you can download full series now instead of waiting for next weeks episode? I don't have BT so last night I switched my phone off and waited for the highlights not knowing the score , it's first time I've done that in about 20 years and it got me thinking how normally I would have seen the goals via some link on Facebook. I still wait for match of the day on a Saturday and refuse to download goals and I still wait a week for the next episode a programme . I just wondered if I was the only one? Can't explain why I do it, just old fashioned I suppose

I'm under 25 and I hate it somewhat.

Mainly Facebook, that pile of ****e has ruined everything.

As one who some might call an old fart I sort of agree. However it's a changing world, always has been and always will be. It's the younger generations who have to make it all work, it's what they grew up with and they'll have to live through it.

I just think as one gets older it gets easier to be a bit lazier about keeping up.

Kind of agree. Most cases when things are easy they loose their value. So instant access looses some of the magic

But let's be honest having to telephone for the latest score or waiting for the sports mail was really really crappy.

No one with any grasp of reality misses that
 
I bet people had the same whinges when you could have indoor plumbing saving you having to go outside, or could drive a car rather than walking, or any of the other huge benefits advances in technology or knowledge bring.

For the record, my old man still uses whatever the modern equivalent of Ceefax is to keep an eye on results on a weekend.

Despite sitting there with a tablet on his lap.

My dad is the only person I know who watches MOTD without knowing the scores , goes to often amusing lengths to avoid them <laugh> probably where I get it from
 
Speaking of technology I often see it as a case of solutions looking for problems. Check this out, gives me the willies but it isn't going to go away!

I like to do that too. Nowadays though with so much to watch and do I don't tend to watch it on the Saturday night. Usually I watch it in chunks throughout the week while having my breakfast before work. I don't particularly expect to have avoided the scores for that long, but in an ideal world it'd be nice to watch it not knowing exactly what's going to happen, just like anything else you watch.

I like box sets

I like recording a series before watching.

I rarely watch anything in real time as I like the power to be able to ffwd through the adverts.

I like being able to watch what I like, when I like.

I don’t watch the BBC as they have no adverts to ffwd through.

I like technology but it’s not all good or beneficial. (VAR can get to ****)

I like being able to keep tabs on the scores.

I rarely bother with streams anymore although like that they’re there if I want one.

I don’t bother with MOTD & couldn’t say when I last saw it.

I occasionally ffwd through The Championship, on Ch5, to watch City’s 2 minutes worth.

I like that I can get online & book flights & accomodation to **** off on hols without having to raise my arse out of the chair

I can’t wait until technology delivers holidays to my chair so I can enjoy a good week in the sun without having to raise my arse out of the chair.

I like that I can order takeaways online & pay online. If only they’d delver to my chair.

I don’t like it when technology is suppressed. For example. Car Parking Companies have developed machines that can register your number plate on entering a car park, machines where you have to enter your reg number, machines that can dispense tickets & tokens that hold data detailing how long you've been parked, machines that have stamped out your choice to pass on “parking time” that’s been paid for to others & machines that can take photographic evidence of you parking your car but many haven’t managed to develop a machine that can give you your change.

I don’t like serve yourself technology in shops. They should carry a discount to those who use them, same as I get when I book my holiday myself.

I like instant, especially coffee.

I like a lot of the things you mention , so I am a hypocrite really . It's not that I'm
Against technology , it's mainly watching football on a phone , it's not how the beautiful game was intended to be viewed . Porn is a different matter where the discreetness of a small screen is welcome

I watched that for a couple of minutes and had to turn it off. What am I supposed to be watching ? It’s got to be the ****test thing I have ever seen unless I’m missing something????

I’m not even joking when I say it’s really wound me up.
