The Henriksen calling by the two resident ****wits is getting a bit boring - his pass success rate is in the late 80s compared to Meyler who is in the 40s - well played to the lad tonight, too many write him off despite being the pick of the midfield more often than not - can't be easy with tits like Burnsie making daft comments about him as well - as Adkins said he's in the team on merit and he's a good footballer

I can't talk about Henriksen's performance last night but the 'in on merit' thing is completely wrong. He hasn't played for 2 months because he's been injured, and he just walks back into the team as if he's our talismanic best player that we can't afford not to rush back. But he hasn't actually proven anything or done anything to earn such status. He's never really scored or assisted goals for us, he's never retained his place on merit but surprisingly often he gets recalled to the side or in this case walks into it ahead of several alternatives.

It's been the case with two managers now and I find it really odd. Normally it's the other way round; fans will call for a luxury flair player to play more often while managers will be more pragmatic and leave them out in favour of more rounded, effective players. There's obviously something managers like about him, and I'm fine with that, but I don't think it's right that he doesn't seem to have to earn his place.

It's actually one month, he just missed February and he's got three assists (and one goal) so far this season.

He's obviously no superstar, but it was him, Stewart or Meyler last night and neither of them have done anything to warrant a place ahead of him.

We've just had probably our best run of the season (2 wins and a draw in our last 4 games) while he was injured and it seemed strange to me to just throw him back in there as if he'd been badly missed. Meyler hasn't been great recently but he's still more proven than Henriksen and been no worse than him this season. But I wouldn't have moved Irvine out of midfield at all really; that decent run we've been on started when Irvine went to CM alongside Larsson. Were Toral and Evandro both injured? Toral is one who is constantly in out of the side but looks decent when he plays. He has more right to a spot than Henriksen I'd have thought.

I'd have Evandro in ahead of Irvine or Henriksen, both he's out injured.

As for Toral, he went from starting to not even making the bench, so is probably ill/injured (though he was our worst player in the last game, so could have just been dropped).

Meyler has obviously been a much better player for us overall, but he's definitely been worse than Henriksen this season.
