Siege mentality from the lads today. Everything is going against us and we're going into arguably the most hostile away game of the season. A gritty performance and a point would do me now. With the Cirkin rumours, i'd go with a flat back 4 of Alese, Mepham, Ballard, O'Nien. Let them defend and allow our attacking talent to hurt Millwall.
Good luck to everyone going down, we’ll be watching you. … … if the team can match the support we’ll get a result. Ha’way the Lads!!!
A while since we won 1-0 so today would be a good time to do it. Don't envy those travelling on this ****ty day but hope whatever team Reg puts out we do the business. Come on HTL.
Fair enough mate. I like international football but the nations league isnt ideal. It is marginally better than friendlies imo. What I think is important is how international breaks develops our own players. Jobe will be buzzing after making his u21 appearances. That is a real progression milestone. Hume and Ballard are massive assets for their country and seem rightly proud to play. It wont do Ballard any harm fitnesswise for today either. Aleksic and Hjelde both getting u21 call ups too. For players these are real morale boosts and different development opportunities. Our club has progressed so much in the last 3 years international football is now something our players are involved in. I think it is worth embracing for their development alone.
Johnson for Alese and I am with you. If Alese is 100% then ok, but I would like to see him eased in a little. The full backs today are likely to be under a bit of pressure so he would need to be right at it for me. I like young Johnson and want to see him emerge here. If he were to play well in a game like today it could be a real boost.
I like Johnson but I don't think he's great at RB, they have 2 good wingers and I'd be worried about him up against either of them I also like a left foot in the back 4 to give better balance so hopefully Alese is fully fit, if not I expect Hjelde will start
Long way to go for our fans if the lads dont get the 3 points. If ya reading this lads do your duty for the fans.
Regis Le Bris' thoughts on Sunderland's reshuffle at Millwall https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...=a73edde4dcb3d8fcf40d517c2718393e&date=231124 By Scott Wilson REGIS LE BRIS will have to make wholesale changes to his Sunderland line-up for this afternoon’s game at Millwall, but the Black Cats boss is confident the side he will select at the Den is capable of achieving a positive result. Not only are Trai Hume, Patrick Roberts and Jobe Bellingham all suspended for today’s game in south London, but Sunderland are also without Alan Browne and Romaine Mundle, both of whom suffered serious injuries in the final game before the international break.... “Football is unpredictable,” said Le Bris, whose side start the weekend sitting at the top of the Championship table. “Life is unpredictable, so we have to manage the situation with confidence. Le Bris spent much of the international break toying with a number of different options as he pondered his line-up for the Millwall game. While some of his players were away on international duty, the majority remained on Wearside and were therefore available to trial different formations and line-ups.... “I trust the players, the mindset of the team. These players have played in the Championship before, just perhaps not in this team set-up. They are ready.” “When I put the line-up (on the board) in my office, I was very confident with the starting line-up and the subs I will have on the bench,” said Le Bris. “Obviously, it is different and when you have bigger experience behind you, you can have the confidence in this triangle or that triangle because they have played many games against different opponents and challenges. “This gives you confidence, but also we struggled against Plymouth when they had a winger who was on fire. We were confident with our triangle that day, but it was difficult.” And while Sunderland have been unfortunate to have three players suspended at the same time, Le Bris anticipated there would be difficult moments during a 46-game Championship campaign that was always going to have ups and downs. “We have had to find a new set-up, but I am excited about this,” said Le Bris, whose side are heading into a run of three games in the space of six days. “Instead of being not confident, or unsure, I am excited. “Football is like this. We need 22 players, and we know that in a league with 46 games, we have to manage many, many different situations.”
Great read. Excited is how I feel about seeing something new and different. Sometimea in footy these days can open up whole new options for the side. I trust Regis and the lads to do us proud.
Big test today with so many players out and away to Millwall. A result will be massive for us. HA'WAY THE LADS
The wind is going to play havoc today. Probably the worst team to be playing in these conditions with their direct style and set piece ability.
Possibly but it might disrupt them as much ... ... most of their play is in the air. If it's really blowing we need to press their defenders who always look a bit clumsy to me.
Snap your hand off for a point at the minute, but you never know with this group. They are always a tough side and they in great form, but we always have a goal and some fight in us so who knows. No prediction from me, I ain’t hexing ****.
I'm in Essex, so not a million miles away, and it's breezy but not terrible (weather app says "moderate wind"), so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem.
How long is Mundle out for? Just googled 8 weeks. Missed the Coventry match and didn't even look at anything afterwards so didn't realise we had picked up couple injuries
