Could there be some potential compo for us from Villa?

Bruce resigns then (albeit months later) takes over at Villa whilst we were 'managerless'.

If so, you can't imagine it'd be a great amount as I was led to believe (difficult with this regime) that Bruce was on a rolling contract anyway.
Wasn't it a 'rolling' one-year contract? I'm sure I read a quote from SB that that was the case.

It means **** now Sky have finally paid out on my bet for MP as next permanent manager. I've been waiting on that £180 for ages.

I had a £5 at 10-1 - £55 return
Also £30 at 4/6 - £50 return

To be honest, I'd written it off.

This what I thought too.

But, there could have been clauses that were in place of some sort, plus was he already in to his next roll, so to speak.

Technically, is there a real difference in what has happened to say him resigning directly after the PO Final and then taking over at Villa?

**** off Ehaw,

84 days keeping someone dangling on a string is hardly a ringing vote of confidence. It would not surprise in the slightest if the Allams have not even been looking for a new manager, just hanging on and on trying not to have to make an appointment.
Their targets have all steered well clear of this carcrash of a job and only Mike Phelan has shown any appetite for it.
By PL standards and those of a multi million pound turnover business in the global spotlight, this is shambolic management, somewhere between indecision and incompetence.
It has undermined credibility of the club and Mike Phelan. So well done Ehaw- that's something you have managed to achieve without daddy's help.
In the meantime another member of staff sees a brighter future in a club in the division below. Does this happen to any other PL club, or is it just us?

What a rotten reign this has become - devoid of class, wisdom, goodwill and style. It wouldn't surprise me that when the Allams leave they take the pitch surface with them, the grasscutters, lightbulbs and anything else removable.
Knownowt charmless bullying incompetent ****s.

I remember as a kid reading the HDM sandwich board headline:

"John Bond: I'd walk to Hull for the job".

Unaware of the cliche, it conjured up all kinds of images and questions, but in the main: how far would John Bond have to walk?

Would it be in stages, or would he do it all in one go?

Would he be guaranteed the job if he walked to Hull, or merely a candidate?

I'm not too concerned about Clemence, there will be plenty of options for an assistant, but it would piss me off hugely if Bruce was allowed to prise away Tony Pennock.

Edit:- posted from Torromelinos, first day of my hols <cheers>
What do you reckon to Torremolinos Lbia?? I went couple of years ago. Thought it was strange place. Couldnt find many pubs.
Get on the train to Malaga mate and get round the Tapas bars, you'll love it.

Phelan Appointed Head Coach

The Tigers are pleased to confirm the appointment of Mike Phelan as the Club’s new Head Coach on a permanent basis.

The 53-year-old took over as caretaker manager following Steve Bruce’s departure from the KCOM Stadium towards the end of July and enjoyed an impressive start to life in the job, picking up the Premier League Manager of the Month award for August after guiding his side to successive wins in their opening two league matches.

Speaking after putting pen-to-paper, Phelan said: “It’s been a while in coming, but I’m happy with the position I am now in and looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“It has taken time but things have to be done correctly with these matters. What is important now is that we move forward and help this squad of players be successful for this football club.

“It’s exciting to step over that threshold into management, and I’m looking forward to working with this group of players that has done so well so far.

“The support I have received from everyone has been magnificent and I want that to continue because the challenges ahead are huge. The fans have been excellent through the last few months and the players have given me their full backing.

“I’m looking forward to what is to come now so roll on the next few games.”

not botherd by Clemence going to Villa. We need a clean sweep & Phelan needs to bring in an assistant manager & 1st team coach who want to play the same way he does & not have anyone still trying to play the Bruce way. Love to seen Ryan Giggs at City (how well did these 2 get on back at Man U ?).
