Are you sure that’s correct ?

I believe the bill for the illegal immigrants’ hotels comes out of the Home Office budget, so I presume that’s not the foreign aid budget.

However, if I am wrong then fair enough, but I would ask “why does it matter which budget it comes from ?”. It is all from the same source - the British taxpayer, so whatever budget it comes from, it is wrong and we should be doing a lot more to stop it.
I've been trying to Google it to confirm it but have had no luck.

Either BBC or LBC
Both can be very biased. I’d be interested to know the ultimate source of the alleged information.

And it’s nice to be able to ask questions of another poster without being threatened, insulted or called fella :emoticon-0105-wink:

LBC has fact checkers. Their presenters are biased in their own different ways but are all very professional.
I’m liking Tory boy Lee Anderson ! “If you don’t like it go back to France “ - now he sounds like my kind of MP! <cheers>
Not his exact words <doh>

Another 41 migrants die in a shipwreck off Italy. I wonder what they are told before they leave about what conditions they face, both on the journey and when they arrive. Somebody should tell them that Europe (including the UK) is f*cked.

This is the sad truth.

If news of hundreds of men, women and children dying at sea won't deter others from trying, tales of being housed on barges or flown away to Rwanda certainly won't. I think even if 50% of these boat people drowned instead of less than 1%, thousands would keep coming and take their chance.

Properly managed legal routes and a functioning process / appeal system are the least worst long term options.
Along with joined up thinking about how migrants can best contribute (in the NHS, social care system, agriculture, service sector etc).
Plus a proper crackdown on gangmasters and the 'black' (cash in hand) economy.

Not knee jerk policies that divide the Nation.

The criminal gangs are probably very nasty violent thugs, and I suspect that is why none of them have been arrested.

Zero sympathy I'm afraid.

I do have sympathy because they’re human beings and nobody deserves to die like that, they’re probably told they’re on the way to the promised land where the streets are paved in gold( only if your a politician) - nothing will be done to stop them - the French just usher them through as it becomes one less problem for them , I really don’t know the answer other than putting them straight back on a plane to countries of origin - that’s got to be cheaper than hotels and barges ?

Once they’re here it’s too late and we can’t just send them back as other countries won’t take them.

We have to stop them getting here and the only way to do that is to patrol the maritime border and simply don’t let them cross into UK waters. Inform the French authorities (if they don’t already know) before they get to us and then it’s their problem not ours. And we MUST stop meeting the French navy and coastguard boats at the border and simply letting them hand over the illegal immigrants to us. Just refuse to take them.

DRowning is one of the most hideous ways of dying.

It will become a game of ping pong in the English Channel- whose nerve will hold ?

She was replying to the equally nasty Lee Anderson tweet, but yes, I agree two wrongs don't make a right and if that's her level she should stay off social media. As she's already had the whip suspended, I imagine she'll be standing as an independent next time round.
