Now then fellas..

an a City exile, I'll be over at Xmas (Dec 24 - 2 Jan) but the only games on are Boro and Burnley away.. sadly the Derby games is on while I'll be on the plane back.. Turf Moor is out so I'm thinking Boro at the Riverside..

what's best way to get there? Train/Bus? is their ground easy access? Do you buy tickets from the KC or pay on the gate at Boro?

I won't have the car with me.. it will be staying in France.. and don't think my bro-in-law will want to drive there in winter..

My dad doesn't know he thinks they still play at Ayresome Park and have got Brian Clough up front!
 
Ive been a couple of times, we always drove though as its not a bad run up the A1/ up through the moors for the scenic route. However if you were getting the train I'd guess you'd get one from Hull and change at York. There will be Tiger Travel from KC- to the Riverside. You could go on www.thetrainline.co.uk (as it does bookings 3 months ahead) to see what trains would suit you, if you booked it now it would be cheaper as well. Oh and you could buy tickets from City direct, although Ive always had a season ticket when I've done it. However I think you should be fine, it will go to away direct people first, season ticks next and then everyone else. I would imagine it will also be pay on the day, Riversides always empty. The grounds near the city centre.

parmo - also known as a heart attack on a plate. Has to be the worst 'fast food' ever dreamt up. However, if you must, the Europa Cafe is way out in front!
 
The away end holds up to 4,500 at Boro, so you should have no problem getting tickets(I can't remember if it's normally pay on the gate, but it probably is).

I always drive, so I've no idea about trains, but I just went on trainline.com and requested ticket options for trains to Boro on Boxing Day and it said 'No tickets available', so you might well be forced to either get someone to drive there or take a coach. I hope it's better than last season, there was a foot of snow and you couldn't see more than a car length ahead of you, but normally it's not a bad drive.
 
If you're driving there is a huge old factory building just off the A19 at a roundabout just prior to getting to the ground. It is easy to park there (I think it cost £3) and is a 5 - 10 minute walk across to the stadium. It was an excellent game last year despite the snow and lack of borough fans (we made our own atmosphere - had to to keep warm)

You can ask your brother if you can drive his car OR maybe you can hire one for the stay over here and drive up there as its just off the A19. Easy away game to attend. I would get tickets in advance as this game could well be a big crowd. What a game for the festive period - potentially. Good luck. lol.
 
I went last season when there was a Snow Blizzared, and we drove, it was crazy! would definitely get the train this time.

Ground is easy access, and bit out of the way i thought, but its an ok stadium, not many fans, and at the time we could pay the stadium for the ticket. But we managed to get tickets before the game.
 
If you do not have a car at your disposal then would seem Tiger Travel the only way to get there on Boxing Day. Just be prepared for the local plods to search the bus for alcohol. I kid you not - the first four rows of our bus were populated by 40ish (Ok 51!) to older ladies and a six year old girl but they still searched the lockers! The plus point was that the police escort got us away from the ground and back on the A19 so we avoided the grid locked traffic caused by the blizzard conditions.

I don't get it, you can drink as much as you like in the concourse at the ground, but not on the way there - and certainly not within eyesight of the pitch (heaven forbid).
