I think it's either Fernandes or Johnson. After all, Fernandes was rumored to be talking to a number of clubs around Europe ala CMS so perhaps Sven isn't too confident of Gelson signing. If it were a loan I'd think it'd be with a permanent signing in view because I can't see him getting into Man City's side. I think the loan at this stage is probably the most sensible decision because we don't know how his knees and abdomen (where he's had his problems) will hold up so maybe a permanent isn't the best for know. He's a top player though and I think when fit he could do very well in this league. However, he hasn't featured in pre-season for Man City and he's put on a lot of weight looking at that photo. So, he might be behind in terms of fitness but if we can get him up to speed then it'd be a good signing. As for the rotation thing, I think it's different in the defence where you need a settled unit but the midfield is different. Joethemightyone is right that King towards the end of the season looked very tired and Wellens will be 32 this season so he's no spring chicken. Sven has said he wants two players for every position so that would mean two players for every position so that would mean 6 and remember not all those 6 will be fit at the same time and there will be losses in form as well. A good competitive squad is vital for any team and that is what Sven is building - I don't think he'll make changes for changes sake. If a player's playing well he stays in the team and if not he gets dropped. Our centre-mid options would be (in no particular order): Wellens - Johnson King - Abe Danns - Oakley Looks strong to me.
He is pretty good to be fair, he's (well he used to be) basically a better Neil Danns. He's a good player but I think its not worth the risk of breaking team spirit for. Maynard and Long, get those two in Then I might just wake up
From fourth official on twitter Leicester have wrapped up a deal for Manchester City's Michael Johnson on loan for the season #LCFC #MCFC
SGE is building a 'MUST GO UP SQUAD, any thing less will be a failure' Nothing like abit of pressure eh Sven ? Seriously though if we get MJ I´m thinking we will trim the squad down. Oakley & Kormergant will go imo. Schlupp & other 'fringe players' will be loan out. CAN`T WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO START & to add spice, it´s Chaventry 1st
bloody 'ell. Ey, at least we've annoyed Leeds to be fair, he'll be another quality addition to the squad . Sven has said that nobody's place is certain and when players start to play **** they will be dropped. Thats a good thing because competition will be immense, but people are gonna get pissed off pretty quickly. Now we need two proper quality strikers and two wingers one being quality one being a squad player. Then I reckon we'll be undefeatable!
I hope that this loan contract doesn't gurantee a full seasons worth of games, if hes playing **** i want him dropped
Cant see any of our midfielders playing every game. Oakley will leave, Moussa will go out on loan and that will leave Wellens, King, Abe, Danns, Johnson and maybe Fenandes
The midfield has a lot of competition which is good, however, for squad harmony you don't want too much as we don't have a reserves team that particpates in a league. Our reserves only play about 10 games a season which is not enough to keep the fringe players happy and firing on all four. Our midfield now consists of: Wellens Danns Oakley Abe Moussa N'Guessan Dyer Moreno King Schlupp Johnson That's 11 players chaing 3/4 slots. My guess is that Oakley, N'Guessan, Moreno will be sold. Schlupp and Moussa will be loaned out. That leaves 6 chasing three positions so 3 to play and 3 on the bench. I cant see him letting Dyer go as he is our only proven out and out winger.
Sclupp is a striker/forward. Sven said he's aiming for around a 24 man squad. For the season kick off, you may well expect at least 7/8 of these to be players coming under the 'midfield' bracket(holding /creative/attacking midfielders and wingers) I'd expect the following to be sold/loaned: Moreno N'Guessan Moussa Giving us: Wellens Danns Oakley Abe Dyer King Johnson To this, I think we will probably add another winger in Townsend Dependent upon injuries and consistency, you'd then expect one or two to go out on emergency loan perhaps, or in January. I think overall, at this point in time Sven will be looking to be bring in (assuming Tunchev and Ball are to be offered a deal), 1 more defender, 1 more wide midfielder, 1 more striker.
Moreno and N'Guessan have been told to find new clubs, so will presumably be offloaded for free. Think we will probably add Fernandes, as all players that Sven has previously worked with and have been linked to us, have been signed - Michael Ball the only exception (as yet). Agree that Moussa will go out on loan. Think Schlupp may go on a short term loan, but think Sven would like to give him some opportunities during the season. Dyer has been used as one of the three forward when coming on as sub. Think Matt Oakley deserves a full season with a different club. He had an excellent season last year - probably his best for us, but at his age (along with Bruno) could do a job and enjoy his (probable) last season. Remember when Holloway came, he had 1 midfield player at the club - what a difference. Does Sven seem the sort of manager to keep his players happy ? Yes !
... but how does he fit in? Good signing but not necessary... id have rather had fernandes as he holds. Similar to wellens almost. If he has a bruma-esque loan conditions ill be a very unhappy man!
1 striker is not enough. We know nugent is **** or he would be in the PL (Hope im proven wrong, maybe i was harsh) We need a LETHAL i.e yakubu maynard to give us the cutting edge. 1 striker and what? waghorn nugent and the latter signing isnt a top 6 yet alone top 2 strike force. Howard out, wag out, vassel out. Yak in shaun w.ph in, eider gudjohnson, maynard, ricardo fuller, marcus bent, kamara, wheres doyle frm reading thesedays.
We have have 6 striker currently Waghorn, Vassell, Howard, Nugent, Kermorgant and Schlupp Nugent isnt ****. He is one of the best strikers around at this level, he hasnt covered himself in glory in the prem granted but that dont make him a bad player Thats what Sven is trying to do, get in a top striker but it takes time Nugent and Waghorn are good enough as back up strikers It isnt that easy to get players in. Yak we have tried, SWP wont drop down to the championship, Eidur Gudjohnsen was sent away by West Ham so no thanks, Maynard Sven is trying, Fuller i doubt Stoke will let him go, Marcus Bent hasnt done anything since he left us, Kamara has already signed for a club, Doyle is still scoring goals for Wolves and has done for 2 years now
