Borini, Buckley and Richards...... SPLURT!!!!!!! Maybe the juros saying we would finish top 10 knew something we didn't!!!!
http://metro.co.uk/2014/08/14/sunde...-for-manchester-citys-micah-richards-4832389/ No one, including myself, believed Sunderland would sign Jack Rodwell. That signing was a real statement of intent from Lee Congerton and Gus Poyet during this current transfer window, but why should they stop there? Sunderland have been strongly linked to Micah Richards, a former team mate of Rodwell’s, over the past 48 hours and if we can manage to secure his signature it would not only be a fantastic acquisition for the club but a perfect move for the English defender. I wonder if Richards read Jack Rodwell’s recent quotes where he advised young English players not to sign for Manchester City due to the lack of game time they offer due to their influx of foreign talent? Maybe his quotes last week set alarm bells off for Micah who finds his options at The Etihad very limited. Rodwell said: ‘I would *probably say don’t sign now, I’d say get as much football as you can. ‘The first thing I’d ask is, ‘how good are you?’ You just never know – you could go there, do really well and be winning league titles and everything. ‘But just because you’re English and young it doesn’t mean you’re not going to play for Manchester City. ‘I would just say weigh up your options and ask yourself if you want to be playing regularly.’ Richards, 26, still has plenty of time left to kick-start his career and try and get back into the national team alongside Rodwell who has the same burning desire to wear the three lions on his chest. The move to Sunderland could be a perfect fit for him as he runs down his final year of his £65,000 a week contract as he would be a regular at the heart of our defence. The main attribute for Richards, who has been at City since 2005 and made just 179 appearances, is clearly his physique and strength to shrug off attackers but also his versatility. He would be ideal for Poyet who can use the defender as a right-back but also as a centre half in case John O’Shea or Wes Brown pick up any injury or suspension in the tough league and cup campaigns we may face this season. Last night betting was suspended on Micah Richards joining Sunderland and with no other real options other than moving abroad there may be some truth in our interest. Hopefully the powerhouse with 13 England caps sees his future on Wearside rather than on the bench like many other young English talent being squandered at Manchester City.
This would just be so ****ing perfect for us it's untrue. If this comes off on top of the already done deals, hats off to Congerline, and Ellis, for a great summer. It does seem players really take to Gus, many will have watched him as they were just getting into the serious years at their clubs as well, helps I feel.
This underlines my signature imo ........... it's easy to be a pessimist isn't it? All you need to do is say we'll sign no one then say how pleased you are when you're proved wrong Poyet, King Cong & the club hadn't a clue which division we'd be in this season which put us way back in our planning. I'd like to see a couple more in, at least, but there's still time. I think we've done very well to attract players to a club that deservedly looked like it was about to be relegated with 1 point last season. With 1 trophy, 40 odd years back, we're not exactly a magnet are we?
Yeah, great business I feel, exactly what we were told, Prem experience, solid, and with Rodwell & maybe Micah, massive improvements. Gomez & Pantimillon will be very, very useful, and Vergini potentially does a Colo and ends up a great CB. Very content going into Saturday, gutted I can't make it down but can't ****ing wait for it now, regardless.
It's gone very quiet on the rumour front with Richards after the flurry of links last night or is that just me being impatient lol? Get him and Borini and for me it's been the best summer we had in a long time with new signings...
If our summer end up looking like this: VAH Jones Gomez Vergini Buckley Borini Richards Rodwell Re-sign Wickham I will be very happy, IMO we probably need another LB but I would be happy with the rest.
I still have this feeling we may need a creative CM, imagine if we pulled in Dembele on top of what we have. I'd go blind like.
