Meyler

Apart from Bruce and Davies discussing it at length after the game?

I was at the game so didn't see what was said afterwards.

I did, however, ask a senior player who was in the dressing room how he felt about Davies giving the team talk and he laughed at me.

Said it was a load of bollocks.

Just saying like.

Seems a rather strange thing to make up and perpetuate.

Maybe it has become exaggerated?

A captain giving a few rallying words at half time has transformed into him giving the full team talk and setting out the formation whilst Steve Bruce just sat there.

That's what Bruce actually said. Said he just sat in the corner and had a cup of tea.

Great management if that actually happened.

No wonder we lost.

For the record it was Robert Koren who I spoke to. It was about one week after the final and he dismissed it completely.

Maybe he was pissed off at not getting on and Davies being captain but he said it was bullshit.

I think those were his exact words.

Bruce was great at bulling up his players.
Then in the summer Davies got all full of himself and started asking for a longer contract and more money and pisssed Brucey off. Cost us did that. I never forgave Davies.

I think it's ridiculous to suggest Slutsky's got no clue. He's managed at a much higher level than us and he's just learning about English football. You only have to look at seasoned managers like Harry Redknapp being sacked to realise what a tough league this is. If the team is capable of playing football like the Sunderland second half, then we aren't going to be in the bottom half for long. I was pondering the midfield choice, I wonder if it comes down to rep? I wouldn't have thought LS would have seen much of players like Meyler, but has probably seen a fair amount of Henriksen via internationals and such. I know Meyler plays for Ireland but I'm talking continental players. He isn't stupid, he'll have seen the influence Meyler had on Saturday and will work to correct what happened.

Brucie was looking for any excuse to play his ****ing son - Davies on naughty step. Macca on naughty step and Maguire farmed out to Wigan gave Brucie the excuse - it got us relegated
