ridiculously dropped for the derby game.
    Stupidly subbed off against Fulham.
    Sub for the Sunderland game.
Does slutsky not fancy him as a player? I don't think he does. Probably sees all these neat and tidy pretty players in training and looks at Meylers industrial play and thinks nah. Welcome to England Leo.

Anyone who sings that stupid Meyler song is an utter ****. Glad to hear there was some booing of it. Wtf are they thinking singing that.

When I suggested it was the midfield needing sorting someone said it was the defence. I can't think of a clearer example of how the centre midfield is crucial to how a team can dominate or beat another team. Yes our defence still needs work but that was night and day from first to second half.
He made Aina look ten times better too. He made Larsson look better too.

Saying all that, and just to keep Charon happy, were in trouble if the boy David is our best creative centre mid too!!!! Which he was.

I'd like to see Irvine given his chance soon too, at Larsson expense not Meylers, or play all three. And go 4-3-3. It's The only way to give cover to the full backs.

Slutsky explained his reasons 're Meyler. Not being considered being able to play twice a week in the Championship when you get international call ups is a bit of a handicap given the way fixtures come thick and fast.

I think he simply doesn't rate Meyler.

Meyler's 28, he's as capable of playing twice a week as anyone else in the squad and the international break thing is nonsense, he didn't travel far and he only played 79 minutes.

Admire his never say die attitude and genuinely respect Meyler experience and loyalty to the club but if we start relying on individual players to single handedly dig us out the latest hole the Allams have put us all in we could be in for a very long winter. The truth is,and as many will have seen by recent results highlighted by yesterday's first half shambles we are still a bunch of inconsistent individuals still struggling to get it together with a manager who it seems is being dangled and danced on a tight string by the those in change of the club. I really do hope we can turn this around and to be fair we have more than enough time to do exactly that, but the reality of losing so much talent so quickly is blindingly obvious for all to see on the pitch and I fear Slutsky has mission impossible on his hands in terms of mounting any kind of serious challenge this season.

    Rant over..

It's more what Meyler represents, which is hard work and determination. If the team has him leading them on the pitch and putting in 100% it should lift them to do the same.

Who's captain at the moment - Dawson? Not really doing much to help the cause this season is he? Can't even organise the defence let alone the team.

I think most have given up hope on the serious challenge but it would be good to see consistent team selection and players trying their hardest.

We could get 10 other players out of the crowd that would show the same spirit as meyler. Does that make them good enough to pick every week

I don't think you could find supporters who could put in the same effort as Meyler, so no. Passion is not effort.

    Agreed.

There is an argument you only get what you pay for in football but many around me yesterday where seriously doubting who is actually picking the team when the team was announced?

Meyler didn't have a Pre-season, and Slutsky is protecting him. There used to be criticism of Bruce for lobbing in recovering players too early, Slutsky has gone the other way, perhaps too far.

Not sure many people in the crowd have a professional footballer's level of fitness or ability, able to make well-timed tackles to break up play, or put balls through to attacking players as Meyler did on a few occasions. I think you're being a bit ridiculous.
