I don't think we can underestimate the impact of this signing. Not only is Ozil a top quality talent, but it puts Arsenal back on the map as a force and will help us to attract other players of his quality in the future. It's a real building block for the future and I think the club should be commended for pulling off such a high profile addition to the squad.

Whilst ignoring all the other ares that needed strengthening. We still only have 15 fit players, which is bad.

Look at our 79-80 season, think we played 70+ games and the likes of Rice, Nelson, Young, O'Leary, Talbot, Stapleton, Sunderland and Brady would have played pretty much all of them....

The games weren't as intense back then, the game as a whole was slower, so even an unfit (well not unfit, but my engine is tuned for Rugby Union) lump such as myself could play numerous games.

League games maybe, but we played some of the most intense Cup games I've ever seen that year.
No extra time or pens, extreme pressure on defences not to make mistakes, took us 5 games to get past Sheff Wed in the 3rd round.
Obviously the game has moved on, become pacier, much higher skill levels etc, what you'd expect in 35 years I guess

Been watching loads of Ozil videos on youtube, and I think this is my favourite. Such an elegant player, but the amazing thing, he is also so god damn effective.

Such an incredible player, his vision, touch and execution of his ideas are brilliant. He's a proper little magician and alongside Cazorla, they are going to carve open defences.

I'm backing Giroud to get a bucket load of goals this season with their supply

Also looking forward to watching the OziL-Walcott partnership in action. Walcott with those runs from out to in, and Ozil to pick him out with that sweet left foot. I can see many, many goals being made from that combo.

Chez, Flappy, Vivi
Sagna, Jenk, Kos, Mert, Gibbs, Nacho, (Verm might be back post-Internationals)
Rambo, Jack, Flam, Frimpong, Ozil, Santi, Rozza, Ryo
Giroud, Theo, Yaya, B52

I spoke to a friend in Madrid and he said Real fans just started to realise what has happened. A lot of fans think buying Bale and selling Ozil and Higuain was a pure marketing exercise and a huge mistake in footballing terms. Especially selling Ozil. Fans can not believe it. Players can not believe it. Ronaldo is furious, Khedira is angry, Benzema is stunned, Arbeola says this deal is a joke. There are celebrations in Barca camp: Real lost "his second best (according to Fabregas) player"
And when you think about it - who would you rather have: Bale for 85 ml or Ozil for half of that price? And this is not even a question. the question is who would you rather have - Bale or Ozil regardless of the price? A lot of Madrid fans now start saying that with Ronaldo and Di Maria in top form they need Ozil more than Bale! Amazing.

They realized it pretty quick actually. On their reddit section and most of their biggest forums Ozil was being discussed way more than Bale. They are all pissed at the club.

It seems the general feeling on our rivals boards is that he's overrated, we paid £10m too much, he was a failure at Madrid and he wasn't good enough for any of the other big clubs. guess we've bought a duffer...

Let's hope that one or two more Real players decide to join Ozil then <ok>

We were just fortunate that things went the way they did and Ozil was available, and became disillusioned with his club.

If Mourinho had the slightest clue that Real were mad enough to sell him before he got all those midfielders he would have got him in an instant.
