well, the more i read about this (refreshing my memory) the more i have to agree with parky...there has to be a line for each and every player and each and every player needs to know that the line exists.

big money and big ego's mean a player can enjoy life after he retires but while employed he needs to toe the line the same as every other player, older and more experienced players should ensure they are a good example for the young lads, especially these days when even a mediocre player can earn 'instant millions'.

also seems the fans really are not arsed about him playing again so not really a 'split' as claimed.

Its capped, I think he’d still contribute as he’s on the books, I could be wrong on this mind.

My understanding of this is....and I could be wrong....that we have to name 22 players and their combined "player costs" cannot exceed the cap.

If he's on the books and not named in the squad, his salary doesn't go towards the cap (which defeats this "we'll make it safe to trade in this division!" as the club still has to outlay but the EFL have given us a way out of including him!!)

If true then he’s got no chance of getting in. That would just infuriate me further that we haven’t moved for Maddison like.

Mind you,he could still be on our books but not included in the 22.......in which case he'd be a high earning reserve, and not available for selection, unless he was replacing someone, who likely wouldn't be earning as much.

Those with existing contracts are assessed as being 2.5k per week i believe (could be 1.5)

I'm sure I read somewhere that we have to name 22 players and can't select anyone from outside that group. The combined total of the players costs.....salaries,related agent's fees and other things.......cannot exceed £2.5m....in other words ,about £113k per annum average for each player....which equates to about £2.2k.
Apologies if I'm wrong.
