Actually the age of consent in the DRC is 14 for females and 18 for Males, so in DRC she would have raped him!

Or is the only morality in the world ours?

While you hide behind anomonity you can debate this all you like and say whatever you like, Now if we was in a pub or a restaurant i would gladly have this debate and give my honest views on this. I could bring up a friends daughter(9 at the time) that was very badly abused by a teenager, But i dont think me posting it on here and trying to discuss people been reformed, will get the right reaction from people hiding behind pysdonames! Example i post pictures of family members and someone decided to call one of them a ****? I doubt he was even banned for it! You might get some response but as already posted the rest will be bollocks.

The question is would you want someone who gang raped a 14 yr old girl wearing the club badge? The same badge my son & daughter wears!

My answer is no, I would not.

But I will not condemn Mboyo without knowing the facts of the case.

What facts do you want to know? He went down for it! The judge must have had all the facts! I started this thread because of the way the HDM just put it as a little foot note at the end of the hopper story! When it was a bigger story in my opinion! It should have been headlines that we were even contemplating signing him!

I can understand where you're coming from, but I was using examples from my own life as context to back up my point, if you don't believe it then so be it. It isn't my prerogative to make you believe what I'm saying, but the beauty of the internet is the freedom of speech it grants. I'd say exactly what I've said on this thread to anybody who raised the same point to me in person. It's my opinion and people on a website aren't going to change that; my own experiences will shape any viewpoints I have.

If we were sat in the pub, I daresay we could discuss this all night, such is the beauty of a debate, but my opinions on here are in no way linked to anonymity.

I can't find the link, but I remember reading somewhere about Scotland complaining that the Belgian FA had called him up, branding him a rapist, just before the two teams were due to play each other. Now, I don't think the Scottish FA really paid much attention to the case, they just saw what the crime was and went for the jugular.

There's a reason websites such as Sky Sports and BBC don't mention players pasts because they're largely irrelevant to their current statuses as footballers.

I would want to know the circumstances, starting with whether or not it was consensual. If it was that would put a whole different complexion on the issue. If that were the case it could be that it was a criminal act in Belgium but not in Italy. For all you know they may have married each other now!

Or it may be that she was dragged at knife point into the woods, beaten senseless and gang raped. In which case he deserved what he got.

To assume that yours is the correct moral stance is arrogant to say the least.

If you check out previous posts you will see my attitude to Marlon King. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. Because we know what he did and I think he's a ****. But he has 14 convictions and shows no sign of remorse (or of stopping offending).

Mboyo may be the same (don't want him) or very different (would consider him under certain circumstances). As far as I can tell this is his only conviction and took place 10 years ago. In the UK his record would have been expunged.

As you live in the UK i am guessing you already have freedom of speech! the Fact you use a pysdoname shows the internet is a very sinister place. And you dont want your personal information flying around the net!

The fact OLM made a jovial comment regarding Mboyo, And The Bull****man liked his comment Stands as testament to anomonity as i am sure they wouldn't want his real name linked to the comment he made! and i guess some parents who's children have been raped wouldn't find it funny.

Freedom of Speech

Steven Rudderham, 48, was traumatised when his name, address and photograph were published online, along with a message calling him a "dirty perv", claiming he was a *****phile. Within 15 minutes, the message had been shared hundreds of times and he began receiving death threats on Facebook.

I think you can take these things too seriously, it's a football forum and half of what's posted is a piss-take or is very much tongue in cheek.

I also suspect there's about 100 people on here who know what my real name is.

I beleive the owners, board and management are aware that this signing could cause bad feeling amongst the clubs supporters and as such would only pursue it as a last resort and at a much reduced price and terms.

In conclusion, he won't be playing for us imo.

Thats why i said jovial! And i would say the same for my name too! Yes it is a football forum ? just didn't see the funny side to this debate! Sorry

I'm not saying that it'd help the victims family, but not all criminals are such for life.

If that was the case, take this scenario on board.

Imagine you're asleep in your bed, when you hear a crash downstairs. You come down to find a young lad in your house trying to steal a valuable ornament. You call the police, he's arrested and sentenced to 4 years in prison. You testify in court that he's a criminal and shouldn't be on the streets. You later learn that the young lad lives with his critically ill mother and was stealing to provide food for his sister and mother, while trying to find money for treatment options to help his mam out. While in prison his mother dies and his sister is adopted, leaving him without a family upon his release. The lad has paid his dues in prison, but now has nothing on the outside world. His punishment is now going beyond what he was sentenced to because he's suffering psychologically. He can't get a decent job because of his conviction, he has no money or a place to live. He is, essentially, ****ed.

Now, that's pretty extreme. It's not the same as a rape allegation, but it is an example of how a situation isn't always as crystal clear as it first seems. Mboyo was in a gang. It wasn't a one person gang consisting of himself, it was one of the most notorious gangs in Belgium which apparently had a network of over 150 people. He was part of the gang responsible for the crime. That might mean it was him that did it or he might just have been there at the time. Had he actually committed the rape, he probably would have got longer in prison so it's probably safe to assume he was an accessory. You should also consider the pressure gang culture puts on young people. At 16 he was very impressionable, I know I was at 16 and was probably made to do all sorts of stuff he didn't want to. When I was younger my friends were all into drugs (I wasn't) and I was constantly under pressure to experiment, skive off school, hang around the part etc. But it was my choice to hang round with these people, just like he made the choice to be in the gang and therefore took responsibility by going to prison. He showed remorse for his actions, apologised, served time in prison and did work for his local community. What more would you like him to do to try and show he isn't the same naive 16 year old?

I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have something like that happen to my own child, I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but I just don't think it's fair to chastise somebody for the rest of their life for something that they're desperately trying to get over and move on from. I mean, I bet you crapped your pants as a baby, but nobody now will call you "Mr ****ty Pants" because of what happened to you as a child

You don't get three years in prison at 16 for 'being part of the gang that happened to commit the act'.

It also appears to have been a racially motivated attack - at least, that's the conclusion most people would reach upon hearing the name of the aforementioned gang was 'Mafia Africaine'. A **** of the highest order.

****ing hell, what a contribution that was. If that was any less well constructed it'd have a Skoda badge on it.

It depends on which viewpoint you take. By law, a person is an adult at 18. That means that if a young girl that's 17 years and 364 days old tries it on with an 18 year old bloke, he goes to prison, regardless of who initiated it. By the time I was 15, I had my own opinions of the world, was going out with my friends and doing lots of stuff that people older than me, technically adults, were doing. I once went to White Room when I was 16 and got ratarsed. I was ill for a few days and my Dad wanted to storm in there are demand why they were serving underage people. I told him not to; it was my fault that I was in there (and Spiders) and I had to accept the consequences. I was still legally a child, but it doesn't absolve me of the blame does it? Saying somebody is a child doesn't completely remove them of blame, it simply makes the punishment for the offender more severe.

As Tyger said, in the case with the teacher, he went along with it, knowing the consequences, so he rightly should go to prison. The girl also knew the stakes, but willingly went along with it. She wasn't held against her will, she wasn't a prisoner, she actively wanted to be with him and wants to continue the relationship after he gets out (which I highly doubt will happen). She's as much to blame as he is because she knew she was getting him into trouble but sacked the risk off because she was 'happy'. Silly girl.

I'm pretty sure the age of consent is 16.

How the hell can you side with a gang rapist of a 14 year old? Would you turn the other cheek if, god forbid, it had been your daughter?
If it'd been my child i'd be the one doing time!!

100% agreed. The Police would be picking that person up in pieces as well.

Sign him and i will be watching Scarborough in the coming season

North Ferriby for me. ;) But we can all relax on where he plays. It wont be here. :emoticon-0103-cool:
