I do have a great deal of sympathy for Tessa as she was given the poisoned chalice. Whatever deal was negotiated a significant number of Joe Public and the MP’s would be complaining about the deal. She literally was in a no win situation. Go for a hard Brexit and most people would complain. Those who wanted a soft Brexit and those who wanted to remain. Go for a soft Brexit and most people would complain. Those who wanted a hard Brexit and those who wanted to remain. Opt to remain and most would complain. Those that wanted to leave. I don’t think there is any deal that the majority of Joe Public would back. She’s damned if she does, she’s damned if she doesn’t.
She has been handed a massive hospital pass. The old boys club are in full voice all smelling the opportunity to get their man in the top seat.
And we voted those MPs in at an election after the referendum result. Maybe rather than have another referendum we should have a General Election. The new house can thrn vote on one of 3 options: No Deal, Offered Deal, Remain. A new referendum and the so called failure of Democracy is avoided.
Since when have MP’s ever been bothered about what the people who voted them in wanted unless their seats were at risk? After a General Election their seats won’t be at risk.
One futher point. The EU channels a lot of those returning funds back to the parts of the UK which need it. If we're relying on the London-centric Westminster to replace like-with-like then it won't happen. The funds that the regions get, the various projects get, will all dry up and, no doubt, we'll get more of Boris' bridges and cable-cars over the Thames.
