Always thought he was a stupid signing as with Wes and Wasyl already we didn't need an experienced head at the back. Now he is out til around Christmas, he will still have a role to play off the pitch with his experience especially with Liam Moore but Wes has already taken him under his wing.

So we will probably need to get a new centre half now
 
Well, not necessarily. It's not like CBs are subbed during games and we still have three. We might want to identify a potential loanee should thinks get worse though.
 
I think we will need to sign another Centre back.
We are not blessed with defensive cover and i assume Moore and Wasyl are also cover at right back for RDL.....Unless James Pearson is ready to make the stp up.

Don't agree. I think Pearson has seen the influence that GTF, Phillips and Hammond had on the young players last year without getting that much pitch time. Upson was always going to be one of those signings, so actually, OLM is right, but for the wrong reasons!
 
RDL has played in central defence before ... Liam Moore and him could inter-change but I'd rather see them where they usually play ... Upson is not a 'bad buy' for what I expect him to bring to the squad in overall benefit over the next couple of seasons ...
 
Upson was one of those signing that I thought was really daft until you realise that he does have a ****load of experience at the top level which we were lacking and was Brighton's player of the year last season so still can perform to a high level.

While you was making fun but your actually right to be honest. He is a very good person to have around the place with his experience and IMO he was only going to get slaughtered when he played. Only type of player he would do well against is Andy Carroll

... happy to concede on that ... although Nige seems to have the edge on 'how to win the Championship title and / or acheive automatic promotion' <whistle> ... still, at least Harry is putting down some firm foundations for a crack at the 'Care Home' sector once he finishes with football management eh?
 
You should have gone for Liam Cooper, he's got PL experience. Now he's having to play for Leeds......

Not good news for you about Upson, although I didn't think he would be key for you anyway.
