My opinion is that footbal CEO works in a completely different way to every other organisation - I've dealt with CEOs and CFOs of various companies and organisations in my career and they are methodical and involved in every part of the business as you say. Martin Bain, from what I could see, wasn't as he had been told he wasn't allowed to spend money by the person that owns the club - CEOs seem more involved in the financial side of things in a football club than at NHS and company level (that I've worked with) - this is where I base my opinion - he's a puppet for Ellis Short regardless of job title - you could've put me in as CEO but when the CEOs boss tells the CEO to do something he has to do it - I don't, for one second, think Bain had the balls to say "No screw this I'm going to do what's best for the club" as he likes his 1.4m salary too much - as I say, that's how I see it and that's how I get an opinion - don't patronise me by saying I don't know what a CEO does

So he chose to act as a disinterested, uninspired puppet for the sake of his salary instead of looking after the club? Your words not mine.

Going back to your original point. Do you still think he did a good job?

Bain has been running safc. He'll have followed a mission statement from the chairman and had 100% free reign in running the football club in which to do that. Now unless Short request that we be relegated, Bain failed in his job. It's as simple as that

Well he failed in that part of it, for me the bigger issue is whether or not he managed to sort the financial side out and pave the way for a takeover. All we know about that is that people wanted to buy the club and they did so potentially a good job done there.

The fact that he was one of the first out of the door speaks for itself, the bloke's a tosser,no time for him and obviously no place for him at the club.

You'd think poor old Bainsy was picking the team for the responsibility people are assigning to him. If anyone is directly to blame for relegation it's Coleman for not managing the team well enough and ultimately Short for not investing.

I don't like him as a person any more than anyone else but I think there's a bit of bollocks being talked about him.

Whatever, he's gone and everything looks very positive indeed now.

Pave the way, or break it so Short had to give it away for next to nowt?

I'd say that situation came about because of mistakes that were made long before Bain was appointed.

Well I disagree there like. Not saying we weren't in a mess but we shouldn't have gone down. We went down on goal keeper mistakes something Bain had a direct hand in and we went down with it. Only credit he can get from me is breaking us beyond Short ever getting a sniff at getting his money back, and with that we're free of short, but it certainly wasn't from doing a good job.

Plus the money he's saved counts for nothing(well it does to Short) as Short was keeping us float out of his own pocket season on season anyway so I think savings is mute point.

Thing is the keeper errors are easy to point out with hindsight. Bain (and none of us) knew that the keepers would cost us >20 points. Man one did ask to leave as well. Grabban asked to leave when the chances fletcher et al have missed Grabban would have scored. Blaming solely Bain for those keepers being ****e is crazy imo.

Its all hindsight, and for me although I liked Vito, I think even he would have struggled behind our so called defenders, who just like Bain were culpable in the disaster that was last season. One has gone, hopefully he wont be the last, including a so called defensive midfielder also revered by some on here, despite his obvious lack of ability.

Definitely not solely Bain. Short and Coleman share the spoils along with the head of recruitment who lost his job too.

One big clusterfuck of incompetence last year. Hopefully it's over.

You don't half twist words mate. I'm not solely blaming him for the keeper situation. You don't half twist words mate. Thread is called Martin Bain. Not Chirs Coleman, Not Jason Steele, Not Lee Camp. But the man at the top let good keeper and a goalscorer leave and over saw pure **** replacing him. His watch, his show, his responsibilities.

How is it hindsight? He sold vito, over saw **** coming in, 3 rubbish keepers for 1 competent one. Now I spotted quickly how **** these keepers were(Camp wasn't here yet), had a lot of early discussions over Ruiter with folk when I declared very quickly he was rubbish. Window was still open then, so how is hindsight when the fans could see the problems arising before the summer window even closed?

All this hindsight **** is bollocks. It's a wet excuse as numerous people were right on the ball at the time saying this business on goalkeepers isn't right.

I can’t agree with that.
Although Vito is was and never will be a world beater
I still think he could have saved us enough points to stay up
And I really believe that

It 100% is hindsight.

In hindsight he was ****e.

If he'd done well we'd be saying, in hindsight, he did well.

But he didn't. He did ****. Hindsight absolutely tells us so.

All this Bain just handled finances thing doesn't wash. He isn't even a finance guy. Came through in marketing and PR.

Sorry mate. It wasn’t “twisting” it was misinterpreting!
