Wow there's a lot of bitterness on this thread. Super Sparky keeps us up please log in to view this image
Agreed. 8 points from 21. Give him a five year contract and the money to bring his Stoke and QPR failures in.
Done the job required though, can't deny how much he has improved us. No where near as bad as some make him out to be.
Yes he is. He had a blank cheque with us, stupidly, and brought in a ton of his agent’s clients on crazy money after doing a similar job of keeping a club up thanks to the opposition being even worse. Then got four points from 12 games with ‘his’ team and waltzed off claiming he’s never been relegated. Which wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t so unbelievably arrogant over such a mediocre managerial career, propped up by a media desperate to play down his failures and big up his minor successes. Any competent manager would have got a bounce from that squad. To have Swansea randomly stop playing in March was a huge bonus.
Yeah he was ****e at your place for sure. Done a fairly decent job at most other clubs though. I don't warm to him much as a person with his excuses etc. tbh.
I do. I ****ing love him almost as much as I love Gabbi and Dusan right now Sparky Maaarrkyy Huuuuughes... Marky Maaarkyy Huuuugheees!!!!
I think that’s a bit of a myth which has grown over the years partly thanks to his mates in the ‘meeja’. Did a good job at Blackburn unquestionably and was doing ok at City. Since then, nine years ago, he’s been either mediocre or downright awful, spunking a lot of money on a lot of ****e in the process.
3 consecutive top half finishes for Stoke is decent too. Can't remember him at Fulham properly but did alright there too iirc.
In all fairness, "He failed at QPR" is on a lot of people's CV's, and not necessarily an indictment of that individual.
If you prefer, four mid-table finishes for Stoke followed by lumbering them with a load of overpriced tosh and being ****ed off for it. He’s done ok everywhere but us, where he failed spectacularly to the extent it’ll take a decade or more to recover. I wouldn’t say he’s done well anywhere since Blackburn.
