He’s been named as the new Southampton manager, He’ll keep them up, And treat United as his cup final, Like he did when he was at Stoke.
... he's got a job on and no mistake ... he'll also make them as attractive to watch as a time lapse documentary about decomposing road kill
They need to stop selling their best players. Think if they had kept their best players, and not caved and sold them all, their squad would currently have Van Dijk, Mane, Lovren, Lalana, Pelle, Bale, Walcott, Clyne, Alderweireld. They'd be competing for the title!
Sacking Puel for ‘failing’ by getting them to a cup final and finishing 8th looks an inspired piece of judgement like.
Probably the best appointment we could've made at this stage, which says a lot about the board ****ing around for so long with Pellegrino. Gives us a chance of staying up which we didn't have under Pellegrino. If he does keep us up I hope we long him off at the end of the season (like his contract suggests) and get someone else in over the summer. The "why didn't they keep all their players " argument doesn't work either, nice try though.
Just a fantasy team where you hadn't sold all your best players is all. Obviously it is wrong, because you did sell them.
Well no it is wrong because half of those players we wouldn't have signed if we hadn't sold the ones at the club. If we had kept Lovren we wouldn't have signed Alderweireld, then VVD when he left. Mane was signed because Lallana left, Pelle because Lambert went so it isn't really a viable option that we could've had some really good team with all of them in. Fantasy though it is good to see who makes our "best team" of the last 6 years or so
He can't organise a defence. Did pretty well at Stoke for a while because he inherited a group that had been trained by Pulis. He's got some good links that allow him to sign some decent players, but that's not going to help Southampton at the moment. Maybe the change will be enough of a boost to keep them up, though.
Bizarre choice imo. Okay he did alright for a while at Stoke then was leading them to probable relegation. Has he got the charisma and skills to get them out of it? Not exactly an inspiring choice is it? We will see.
