Mark Douglas a reliable source? - Samba

  1. Saylor isn't slow, and Colo is quick for a center back, and Santon and Simmo are both quick players. Don't know what you're on about mate.

I can believe we'd go in for him, but I don't think we'll get him. If Arsenal or Spurs go in for him too then he'll choose one of those over us.

  3. According to Douglas, Pardew really wants a PL based defender to replace Saylor, which is understandable. I'm sick of buying abroad tbh.

Why? We haven't signed a dud yet from Pardew and Carr.

I'd take him in an instant.

And him being 27 isn't a problem. It's a great bonus. The perfect age. Old enough to be experienced, young enough to have 7 or 8 years at the top.

I'd rather have him than an inexperienced 21 year old CB.

Hmmm, think a lot of people think Samba is better than he is. He's big and strong, pretty slow and a decent defender. Not amazing. Prefer Saylor but Samba would fill in well this season and be brilliant back up/rotation for next.

  8. Yes but buying abroad is quite risky, I would like us to buy 1-2 players that are proven in the league. The CB position is very critical, and most mistakes cost goals. If we are to buy a CB I would like it to be a quality, PL proven one.

tbh i would still have Taylor in the team over him when he's fit

  10. He's not amazing but still damn ****ing good. At his best he's better than Saylor IMO.

  11. Well when Saylor gets back from his injury, he can contest Samba for the place, but it's quite clear that we cannot rely on Saylor staying fit.

Would love Samba here! He's in the last year of his contract if anyone wanted to know.

Although if he did sign there'd be a part of me thinking Collo was on his way :(

No he isn't, signed a new deal in January.

Must be the only person here who doesn't want him.

Sorry, my bad, didn't realise that. In that case he might cost quite a bit. Personally I would love him but £10 million for a CB is excessive. Would rather sign Hoilett tbh.

Big, slow, only real qualities are his strength and ariel threat. We need more of a Saylor type defender to partner Colo. Now to wait for Tash to tell me my personal opinion of a player is wrong.

Cracking CB. Him and Coloccini would form a formidable partnership.

Fair enough. I've always thought of him as a bit like Saylor: big, good header of the ball, can block and tackle well, PL experience. What would you class as a Saylor type defender then? Any examples? Besides Saylor of course.

I'd say Saylors style is like a John Terry who can actually play football
