He says that we're after Samba, and a bunch of sources on twitter are saying it too.

I would definitely say yes to taking him. He may be 27 but he's beast, and a perfect partner for Colo IMO.

It would be interesting to see him and Saylor fighting for a place next season.

My only fear is that this may be a move because we might be losing Colo, but hopefully it's just the club trying to improve the squad.

If we had Colo and Samba first choice with Saylor and Willo back up, I'd be very happy.

He's an absolute unit is Samba, class defender. What's his contract situation because I can't see Blackburn being willing to sell him on the cheap. Also I can't see us being his most attractive option either.

This. Would like to sign him, but if we get into a bidding war with Tottenham or Arsenal, I wouldn't want to pay over the odds/ give him a bigger contract than necessary, when there are probably cheaper and better options available!

They're saying Blackburn are asking for 10m, but we're trying to get them down to 7m.

There aren't many better options really. He's an experienced defender and proven at this level. Him and Coloccini would make a solid partnership and both can lead a team very well.

He'd not be guaranteed a place at those teams though, where as he'd walk into our team and get to wear the captains armband if Colo was out.

Koscielny has improved a lot I think, unless it's just Mertesacker making him look good. He's not as good as Samba though so yeah you're right.

This is correct. Samba is a good defender and in a better team he might be a very good defender but he's defo got competition here if he moves.

Also, from reading that it seems like we've got some more targets lined up. Moussa Sow could be one of the players who have asked for Cabaye to put a word in for him. Also, would love Aly Cissokho and Samba, and if it's true that Ashley wants us to get a CB then there's a chance we could get someone else in too <optimism>

Mark Douglas was the first source that said we were after "an international midfielder from the continent" in the summer. Only turned out to be Cabaye! He is very reliable.

And I would love Samba! Great leader, the same mould as Saylor and has pace, something we lack in our defence.
