There you have it, we are signing Arsenals number 3. I have watched him a few times and not once has he looked any good.

If he is number 2, fair enough. If he signs to be number 1, i'm going to be narked about this. Westwood pisses all over him in my opinion.

Sunderland have agreed a fee for Arsenal keeper Vito Mannone.

Mannone will definitely depart the Emirates - with Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski both ahead of him, and the club chasing the services of QPR's Julio Cesar - and will fill the absence left by the departing Simon Mignolet, who joined Liverpool recently.

The former Italy Under-21 representative will compete against Kieren Westwood for the number one spot under Paolo Di Canio.

I like the way some fans give our new signings a big up when they havent even played a game for us, give him a chance, Westwood hardly played for us because of Migs good form but that didn't make him a crap keeper, hope all our new signings next week are made a little more welcome, but I wont hold my breath.

Westwood kept Mig out of the team mate until injury.

I'm not saying it's a poor signing because he's barely played for Arsenal, I'm saying it's a poor signing as having SEEN HIM PLAY MANY TIMES I think he is ****.

<ok>

We will certainly be severely weakened in the keeping department next season? Probably the most important part of any football team.

The great Brian Clough always maintained that a top class keeper was the key to success and he always started there. We have just sold our best keeper and have added a pretty ****e one to back up our second best keeper?

Is this really progress? Really? I'd have been more excited if we have gone for a top young keeper to back up Westwood and the young lad Jeroen Zoet fitted that bill perfectly but as mentioned above, god help us if Westwood is injured as coco the ****ing clown will be stepping in? Poor signing imo although I have (sadly) heard of this one and seen him play.

I'm not sure why people are so negative about Mannone, he's only 25 and has always looked decent when I've seen him play. The Hull fans had plenty of good things to say about him, we should all give the lad a chance! The fee is reported to be 2m, which gives us 7m from the Ming fee to strengthen other areas of the team!

If he comes in as cover and does alright, thats fine by me. Mig was exceptional last year, and if people are thinking that we can bring in a replacement of similar level are kidding themselves. Thats not even to mention that we have a good keeper in Tim.

Edit- Hell if he comes in and is **** absolute ****, but gives it his all, thats forgiveable. We are SAFC supporters.

Might be s daft question but how can you tell if a keeper is giving his all? Spectacularly diving about everywhere but letting in shed loads?

That came from The Sun. Who knows if its right or not?

What's your opinion of him?

He did a good job for us and there's many City fans who thought we should try and get him on a permanent, but I'm not one of them. If we were in the Championship, then I'd happily have him as our No.1, but he's looked out of his depth playing for Arsenal and I'm not sure he's ever going to make a top class keeper.

He's still fairly young though, so you never know and I'd be happy with him being on the bench.
