Wonder if a club like Spurs could take advantage of the managerial changes next season, been a while since there was not one of the expected clubs at the top. Might have a sneaky fiver on them especially if they keep Bale and Walker.
So much for Citeh mimicking Uniteds model of patience and continuity. I know he'll get a massive pay-off, but what a ****ty way to treat an employee.
5Live asked Rodney Marsh if he felt sorry for Mancini, he said 'not a bit with that pay off'. The word was on 5Live tonight that he'd lost the changing room big style - picking weird fights with players (no **** Sherlock), but the fans certainly seemed to be behind him at the weekend. I thought the statement the club put out tonight was a pathetic joke especially one year to the day they won the premier league. Disgraceful.
He did that at Inter, it's not easy to get the sack after winning back-to-back titles but he did that because of: a) Dressing room unrest. He is supposedly extraordinarily arrogant. People say that about Jose but he's arrogant externally, internally (at Chelsea and Inter) you will never find a crop of players who love their manager as much. b) Failure in Europe. He has never gone beyond the CL quarter finals and c) Defensive football. In Italy he is seen as the last of the Catenaccio managers and a throwback to the 50s.
If that is true I would be right royally pissed off if I was a Man Citeh supporter. £28M divided by 36,000 (the number of season ticket holders) is £777 each. That is more than the cost of the most expensive season ticket for 2012/13. So the entire season ticket revenue & much more for last year is blown on the whim of the owners' vanity.
The question is - what does his successor have to do to stay in a job? Only 1 team can win the league so if they don't do that, then what? Is there a certain level of CL progress required. Quarter finals at least and maybe a domestic cup? That's not easy...
Mancini's Premier League record... 133 games, 82 wins, 27 draws, 24 losses. Win percentage: 61.7 per cent.
Fortunately, I do believe this is what 'Citeh' deserve, money is undoubtedly controlling the top of the PL and arrogant as he may be, Mancini was almost perfect for them - club and manager looking to rebuild reputations and establish themselves among the elite. I hope the likes of Yaya, Silva and Aguero (all RM purchases) follow suit between now and next summer. Look at Blackburn, L***s and Chelski - none of these big spending assaults on English football ever seem to sustain and I feel as though Man City just confined themselves to nearly men for the next couple of years while they try to find a man to bring the stability the Mancini did. I'll reiterate a couple of earlier posts on the forum - a cheeky fiver on Chelsea (Mourinho pending) or Spurs for next years title is worth a punt. I wonder what the odds on Arsenal are, could be Wenger's last chance at a final hurrah.
I would LOVE it if now Mourinho went to Citeh. I think they suit him too, he'd relish the challenge to follow what Fergie did at Utd by knocking the dominant force "off their ****ing perch".
I wouldn't, I'd like mourinho to go to a proper club like Everton and put some good back into football. He's been round all the top clubs in 3 of the 4 big leagues, time for a new challenge and do what fergie did. Build a club.
Mancini has tried to rule the dressing room with an iron fist, trying to emulate his Red nemesis. Ferguson could do it because he was in a position of respect but Mancini, despite his trophies over the last 3 seasons, could not. Respect is strange. You either command it or not. Result: conflict with players. I think his days were numbered when those pictures of him and Ballotelli grappling each other on the training ground were published.
What are the clowns at Manchester City playing at ? Utterly clueless and with more money than football sense. IF Pellegrini is to come in as the new manager that is like replacing SAF with Phil Brown. FFS, Pellegrini had a year at Real Madrid and blew £200m and won nowt. Man City imo need to move in for Rafa Benetez and quick. At least they will have a manager who wins trophies and gets success. Pellegrini = Melt Down @ the Etihad.!!
Benitez can't handle it! Sure, he's done an acceptable job at Chelsea but 3rd place and an appearance in the European Milk Cup final is hardly fitting of Cech, Hazard, Mata, Oscar etc. not to mention he can't handle title pressure from the media. "He's cracking up, he's cracking up, he's cracking... Rafa's cracking up!" Is still one of my favourite chants of all time, right after he read his list of reasons why Liverpool were hard done by in the title race on national TV. You'd assume they'll go for Pellegrini, and I can't possibly argue with you that he's not the right man either. The right man for the job will pick up a £28m p45 tomorrow. I think I'll throw a couple of quid on Vieira being their caretaker manager before the end of the season.
