Stability, what would most of you accept and tolerate as having some stability? Genuine question. I will not pretend to be an expert on how our or any club should be run and I don't have the answers. Yes I/we all want some foundations to be laid at QPR, just for once a master plan that the club should stick to. So we get a manager in and get relegated to League one and stay there a couple of years to regroup and lay some foundations. Is any manager/coach going to be kept on to do this after being relegated? No Get a manager in and have a few seasons of mid table championship mediocrity? Again I suspect the manager/coach would be replaced for someone to come in and try taking us to the next level. So this leaves us in a vicious circle of trying our luck with new coaches/managers I'm afraid with none of that magic word stability Sadly it's not just us, the money which has and is ruining the game is making it very hard for small clubs like us to find the winning formula. Sure it can be done and likely done better than our board have managed or in our case should I say mismanaged. I always try my best to look on the bright side, be a glass half full type. The reason for my current QPR gloom is based on a proven track record of knee jerk decisions from the bods in our boardroom. I most likely will be very underwhelmed by our next appointment. I very much hope not and whoever it is I will back them until the next one anyway.
That is a bit of a stretch isn't it mate? Because there are two black candidates you would assume that?
I suspect his assumption is based on the fact that outside QPR, sadly and so far as I am aware, there are no black managers or directors of football in the English (and Welsh) football divisions, yet at QPR, the Director of Football, the past manager, and apparently the two prospective managers are all black. If it is true about the prospective managers, is the situation manufactured or co-oincidence? I'm all for breaking the mould, and Les Ferdinand was a legendary player at QPR, but we also need the new manager to be chosen on merit from the widest pool possible.
Statistically that's a fair point. How many others are there in the Football league at the moment. I'd be disappointed if we were still having such a debate when we appoint our manager in twenty years time. However I doubt whether even Tony is stupid enough to make his appointments on the basis of some form of positive discrimination at the cost of his investment. I hope the Chris Powell rumours are just another example of lazy journalism. The guy's been found wanting in two appointments so far
If they were both great managers, I wouldn't see a problem but surely we wouldn't expect Powell being remotely considered for anything as such. Were talking about a team that was in the PL last season as opposed to a novice manager who couldn't cut it in the lower leagues. Maybe it is lazy journalism as others have alluded to .............. or maybe plain dumb management from our club. Let's pull in a manager who is an asset, not another liability. Experience is a prerequisite.
If I was interviewing for the job it would have been sorted a long time ago, 'Is your name Tim Sherwood?' 'No' 'Welcome aboard'
Saw on faceache the other day someone saying typical QPR totally underwhelming/wrong appointments etc.. on what is media speculation with a little help from the bookies trying to make some extra money, can't understand slating the club for an appointment that hasn't been made and we don't really know who is being seriously looked at!
Yep, seems not. With Chris Powell getting an interview it really does make you wonder what Les' list of priorities are. People questioning why Rowett would join us. Other than a pay rise he'll be handed a budget and a squad with far more potential then he has at Brum and he'll back himself for catching up his old s ide in no time Be nice to get an experienced, young, forward thinking modern manager in who has been successful. JFH is still a bit wet behind the ears and needs experience and at a better level before he's ready to take on such a tough job
@Smudge1962: Hasselbaink or Rowett for #QPR Same agent, both managed Burton Albion but two contrasting styles of management
My sentiments exactly Tooting. JFH it seems just inherited Rowetts team. I for one would not welcome this appointment. Plus I met JFH a couple of times when running a restaurant in Cobham and he was a prize tit ( although I enjoyed chatting up his partner, who was sitting on a different table )
Can anyone give any update on the Manager situation ? Yes we have NW , but when will someone be appointed ? And if so is it the choice of Powell , Rowett or JFH ? Or is anyone else in the running base on the latest news?
