Oh dear, was such a leg-end at City now I've lost all respect for him. This is absolutely disgraceful and I for one am glad we never appointed him as manager now (not that he would have been my first choice in any case)

Truly unbelievable, one thing is for sure is that he'll never work again in football management, at least I very much doubt anyone would employ him now. Then again this is football we're talking about !!

I just had the feeling that there was something of this ilk lurking because he looked to be odds-on to get the Palace job and after being overlooked for the Canaries hot-seat where again he was a favourite there had to be some reason why he wasn't getting 'over the line' so to speak. Very disappointing and from here he will struggle to get any job you would have thought.

Makes me wonder if NCFC is somehow at fault, as Malky hits the headlines - for the wrong reasons, just as Culverhouse and Karsa are fading from peoples' memories.

Sorry Cromer, but how on earth can our Club be at fault for a series of foul-mouthed dispatches between Moody and Mackay. If what they´ve dug up is true, then he´s just blown his entire career possibilities to smithereens, at least I hope he has.
 
Makes me glad we didn't choose him or we'd now be facing a crisis after he is summarily dismissed.

Do you think the Board had heard something on the grapevine and that's why he didn't get the CR job?

I'd like to think so (and that all my criticisms of the Board over Hughton and events since are unjustified) but somehow I have my doubts.

But who knows?
 
Is there a possibility that this came to the attention of our board when they were looking for a new manager in the summer as part of some disclosure exercise with Mackay?

That would explain a lot because otherwise I really still am at a loss why they didn't appoint him at the time. Very, very glad they didn't now as can you imagine the sh1tstorm we'd be in?

Supposedly these allegations have been a fairly open secret in football and that's why he's failed to get a job despite several good openings (us and west Brom in particular). I'd like to say they'd never work again but Marlon King and Joey Barton always seem to find work.
 
There had to be some thing in the closet for him to drop a law suit for £7.5m and then offer a public apology ?
That was a bigger U turn than this government has ever done !
Real shame I liked the guy when he was playing.

Tbh I think we were all entirely justifiably nervous because Adams was (and to an extent remains) an unknown quantity. I held back from being overcritical of the board, simply because it looked like there was more than met the eye at the time, but this certainly gives them some credit back.

For now, I'm delighted he's got us up and running properly. It's obvious that he's got some motivational skill and he's getting things right now. We will of course have a rough patch this season - that, and how he responds, will be the true test of whether he has potential to be our long term manager.


BTW, I've spoken to a couple of sports lawyers and apparently it's highly likely that the board knew about this once Mackay was interviewed (either because he had to disclose it or because they were informed elsewhere).

nice story but lennon was never on the shortlist. zola was though - adams beat zola to the job <ok>

having got to know mackay a few years back i'm am absolutely flabbergasted by these allegations. he seemed the most genuine and honest bloke you could ever meet, proper down-to-earth and incredibly friendly to everyone he encountered.

genuinely shocked by this. certainly explains why he didn't get the gig here though - i'm sure mcnally will have been made aware of these rumblings. if not, then a lucky escape!
 
just on adams, lets not get too carried away. two excellent home wins and some promising football but we haven't won away from home under him (and not at all since december) and were it not for a truly brilliant save from john ruddy in the last few minutes at 2-1 we'd have drawn on tuesday night.

big moment, big player, big save. ruddy was the first to be congratulated by adams after the whistle and i'm not surprised. one point converted into three makes a huge difference at this stage.

at least he seems to have found a system which suits us far more than the dreadful diamond. i just wish he'd play lafferty through the middle, redmond on the right and grabban on the left - seems obvious to me that that is where they should be starting!
