Lafferty seems to be getting rave reviews out wide though (from what I've read on here - I've not had a chance to watch us other than the Wolves debacle).

Completely agree that caution needs to be exercised. However, the bottom line is we have won two matches comprehensively under his guidance (and for all "it could have been a draw", if it hadn't been for, quite frankly, a Cairney wonder strike in the first half which shocked the players and left them wobbling dangerously for the first 10-15 mins, this match would have been seen as entirely dominated by us).

So yes, of course we need an improved away record, but it is a massive relief (to me) that Adams has managed to get the team playing well, quickly, and seems to have found his feet as a manager at home at least. Small steps.

Holy ****. What a disgraceful pair of human beings.

We've come so far since the days of monkey chants on the terraces, how could people like this be allowed to work at the very top of the game?

Not sure what kind of sanctions can be imposed but surely either the FA or FIFA can impose lengthy bans? I'm sure no-one wants people who think like this working around the game. On second thoughts, some of the ****e that you hear on the terraces a lot of people still think like this. I'll never understand it.

Whilst that is of course correct, had Robinson not made an even better one before that we'd have been out of sight.

Agree with what you've said though <ok>

I understand you're pointing out how things could have gone wrong at the end but to pick out Ruddy's save as the major point and not Robinson's is to do a disservice. Plus we hit the post twice. Blackburn really weren't as much of a challenge as I expected them to be.

I think the away form will come now we've got some wins, a good number of goals and a few games together. The positivity should start NOW!

Innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz, but at this stage I think it's pretty clear the allegations have at least some foundation and need thoroughly investigating.

As for Malky, this is pretty devastating. He was my footballing hero when I was younger, leading us to the Prem only to be dropped. I would have never in a million years expected something like this. He's the reason I wear the number 4 for football. It feels tainted now.

indeed, robinson's save was as good as you'll ever see, but it wasn't relevant in the context of my post which was about fine margins in the last minute of a match. once that save had been made blackburn were still in the game (though we should have been out of sight). had that chance at the end gone in i reckon some people would be a very annoyed that we didn't win a game we dominated. thems the breaks...

until we start winning away we will have a major problem. lets hope that sequence of failures stops on saturday <ok>

And whilst it may well explain why Mackay didn't get the gig, it doesn't explain how we scoured Europe to come up with a shortlist of 3 managers, one of which was our own youth coach. Adams has certainly earned himself more time in my eyes so far, but we'll see at the end of the season whether it was a sensible call or not.

rob, he's played very well out there, totally agree. but when you watch him and grabban in the flesh i promise you you'll find yourself wondering why they aren't in roles reversed. everything (and i mean everything) sticks to lafferty. he's the ideal focal point for our team, while grabban, despite netting three times, has failed to get involved in any of the matches. switch them around (and swap redmond to the right) and all three will be playing in their strongest and most effective roles.

i think there was a certain amount of 'artistic license' involved in that statement. i suspect they did have a look at coaches in europe but decided it either wasn't for them or more likely, it was the wrong time to appoint a foreign manager. had we stayed up i think we'd have either a foreign manager in charge or neil lennon. relegation changed this so it looks as though they didn't do any research but i'd be very surprised if they didn't. we all know mcnally had been looking for back up plans to hughton last season. reports in italy suggested we made contact with one or two clubs over there.

Thanks Supers - as I say I haven't watched them.

Grabban is obviously brilliant positionally and has a pace advantage, but I must admit I'm not wholly convinced (based on the Wolves game, though admittedly everyone was awful, and the somewhat unsatisfactory finishing from the highlights). I suppose as long as he's scoring goals, it really doesn't matter, but I completely take your point and it will be interesting to see.

I do think Lafferty has really answered his critics. I know a few on here were very derogatory about him (and especially the price) and I felt myself wondering the same, but on the limited evidence so far he has justified the decision.

grabban has done ok so far but i think hooper is the better striker - in fact, i know he is. but grabban has that pace and is a little more flexible positionally and we can't really argue with three goals in as many games! lafferty is our best player, absolutely no question at all. i'd worry about how we'd cope if anything happens to him

Couldn't agree more with this. I guess Adam's wants Grabban to make runs in behind while he wants Lafferty to be more involved in the build up. That's the only reasoning I can think for him not being up front. For me Lafferty is the new Holt in his harrying of the defence, his ability to hold the ball up, plus he's quicker, slightly better with his feet and much younger. Seems like a great buy! don't know why anyone has thought ill of him before, incredibly committed on the pitch.

My mate did point out he looks a bit like a Musketeer with that beard though.

lafferty won't score anywhere near as many goals as holt did but he is a better footballer.

i had concerns about lafferty but none were to do with ability - it was all down to attitude. if his head is right he's a premier league player but i've seen many times with rangers that he can lose the plot sometimes and unfortunately it happens regularly. stupid dives, rash challenges - it never took much to tip him over the edge. i hope he has matured a little and his time abroad may well have given him a new outlook on the game.

This is probably the first time I've seen Lafferty play that I can remember and I had obviously heard all the talk. However he struck be as a very mature player.
On the European manager look at McGarth, by far the highest archiving manager in the league however not knowing the league has put him at a disadvantage (I imagine he would learn quickly but I doubt he'll get the time) Adams knows the league well and started quicker.

I always thought he has an excellent knowledge of the game but the way he and his coaches have pulled the squad together after relegation is impressive.
