I live on a private road, in a rural situation, where it's rare to see a vehicle that doesn't belong to the farm or a delivery van.

Nevertheless I have a three foot long baton in the house, an extendable cosh and French police issue cs gas spray.

Anyone attacking this cottage, or the big house, would get it so they couldn't respond ...

... all they need to do, to avoid concussion, is to stay away.

I have tried to stay away from this thread Smug. There are strong feelings being expressed but people are entitled to express their thoughts whether I agree with them or not.

I liked your post but feel that I need to qualify that like. I would never go out tooled up in anticipation but the law is clear. If I am attacked or believe that I am about to be attacked I am entitled to use as much force as is both necessary and reasonable in order to defend myself or others.

If my family and I were under direct attack, I would use whatever I had at hand to protect us from that attack.

Meaning all the BAME folk need to do to avoid being attacked is stay at home.. get the point? It’s a ridiculous argument. There is bad on both sides and trying to say that they’re within their rights to roam around the streets like a baying mob (just as bad as those rioting) is just absurd mate.

Also not really, I didn’t think you’d take what I said like that lol it’s common when someone says something what I/you would take as wide of the mark to ask if they’re pissed apologies if I caused any offence :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Quite right mate, I would never leave the house tooled up looking for bother, never have or would.

However I have a principle that I abide by and will always stand by.

My one rule is that you can't come onto my property to cause harm. If you break that rule then you've just ripped up the rule book and now there are no rules. You may believe your opinion of 'reasonable force' is the opinion that counts ...

... it doesn't.

Now I'm making the rules and I'll use whatever force I believe is necessary. Do I want to knock you down and risk you getting up even more angry ... no, so I'll make sure you can't get up until the police and ambulance arrive. If you wish to avoid that all you need to do if keep the f*ck away from me.

Simple.

If it's a 'we want our country back' protester, who's wounded, I wonder if they'll want the police they attacked to get involved ...
