Does his agent have continental links? I think I read that somewhere. If so then its probably his agent who wants him to move there.
They're based in London. They also have Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson on their books who are currently playing in Germany. So it seems you're probably right. I would have thought that Germany would be a more obvious destination though. Still can't really see what Bordeaux can offer that we can't though. Apart from PSG the standard can't be much above the Championship and we'd arguably be there next season.

Because we're in the third tier of English football.
But currently he's the man of the moment at a club on the rise and is quite likely to be playing at a level comparable to Bordeaux's next season anyway. By staying he'd have a full season under his belt as his clubs first choice and stands a good chance of winning some medals. He's unlikely to get either of those at Bordeaux. A move to Germany to play as first choice at higher level would make sense but Bordeaux doesn't strike me as an obvious career move for him at this stage.

Yes he does, done well in Germany apparently. Not sure about France though. I'll keep my eyes peeled on anything related to him and France

Well, maybe he does want to leave and that would be why he can't be offered sufficient remuneration to persuade him to stay. But in the current climate of money being king, it's the obvious question to ask. Bordeaux isn't necessarily the most obvious destination, in footballing terms, for someone in Josh Maja's position so it's interesting to speculate as to why he's keen on a move there.
Makes you wonder why his agent demanded terms in the first place if they're not interested when we've matched them.

I agree it seems a strange one.

But we have to realise that we're in League one for a reason and this won't be the only time someone comes in for one of our players who are performing.

Good wine and a nice beach. Just what a young footballer needs for his professional development.

****ing Bordeaux. How can that be considered progress?

Its not progress its his agent being a c*nt by trying to save face by getting the transfer oh and making a little cash as well. Where are these alleged premier clubs. The man is obviously a cock and if Maja thinks this is best for him then he is too.

PS, if I have spoken before hearing the full side of the story I reserve the right to withdraw this comment to ave myself looking like a cock.

ever since i first released this story, people first said crap and paper talk, then he will sign, the writing was on the wall from day one . He is a greedy ****, his agent is a greedy **** and he couldn't give a toss about us even though we rescued his career. I reserve the right to have this comment written in the blood of anyone who disagrees...........<laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

Nick Barnes ‏ @Tweed_Barnesy 7m7 minutes ago To clarify: @stewartdonald3 has told me Josh Maja has played his last game for [HASHTAG]#safc[/HASHTAG]. They had hoped they could keep hold of him until the summer but the player took his belongings and said he was leaving. Negotiations are now being pursued with Bordeaux. 14 replies 25 retweets 38 likes

I rest my case

Well at least if this is fact then we know where we stand and move on.
I wish him well but think he's a foolish young lad whose been badly advised.
It's all been said previously and for one I am sorry to see him go, however no one player is bigger than our club and we'll still be in business when his career is finished.
Bye Josh.

Let’s hope that neither club has a late problem with the deal - otherwise dejavu - we have a player who doesn’t want to be here , and no desire to play him anyway, but his wage to pay still while losing his asset value
