Pretty much correct, the model for these Arabs to try to aim for, or better, is what Man City have done, it's very much a game of one-up-manship, so the Saudis would be honour-bound to go one better that what Man City have, or be seen as a poor relation/ second best/ **** attempt. Now if you look at the Etihad set-up, they have built a new stadium, a training stadium, 20 full size training pitches, over 10,000 new rental apartments, homes, and offices, and a massive swathe of redeveloped land which was derelict and worthless. Basically a small city in itself, but one that will generate income for Manchester City for generations. To even contemplate this at Newcastle, they would need a site so vast that there's simply nothing around the 'toon' that's even nearly big enough, even the unobtainable Town Moor wouldn't even fit the car parking area!!!
So it's basically Northumberland or bust, which would involve new metro lines to transport fans out of town to games, and huge infrastructure changes to roads etc to service any such development. Now if you were cynical enough to look at the real estate that the Reubens have been buying up over recent years, you may just be able to map out some huge bits of land, and some crucial tracts of land where road and rail links would have to be run to any new suitable sites, then the jigsaw will start to fall into place.......hey presto!
