I’d be surprised if he starts and very surprised if he starts up front alone. If he didn’t give Willock or Adomah minutes on Saturday I’d assume they’ll play but really who knows? Longer term I’d like it to be Dykes and Austin as a pair with Chair and Bright either side.
Or a mannequin in the club shop. In fact, the more i ruminate over it, i really think this idea of a like-for-like replacement could work.
Sorry, I should have clarified that I meant going forward, and not just for the Luton game. Although, Austin may get the first half. Who knows. Do you think Austin and Dykes could really work together? Dykes is not exactly a runner.
Not sure we have the luxury of players who can actually run. I think CA will need someone up there with him to be effective. That could be Chair or Bright which opens up a spot for Willock or Adomah to play but think Dykes for his faults can do the donkey work effectively if he’s used right. If they’ve spent god knows what on Austin’s wages or even a loan fee they’re presumably looking to be a bit more direct. As always though, **** knows really.
Neither was OBZ. Austin was best with a target man up with him and Dykes is the nearest we have to a target man. We want Charlie on the end of lay offs not providing them.
You have a point. However, none of the strikers are receiving any decent service these days, which is why I thought it might be better to have someone who can play the ball in and around the box with Austin (e.g. Chair). But Warburton is apparently looking for a LB and a CM; and a CB is already on the way (supposedly). That CM really needs to be one that can send some interesting balls forward, like Faurlin used to. I actually was hoping Carroll could be played slightly further forward to have a go at that. But if we can get someone doing that effectively, Dykes and Austin would work. I really like what I've seen of Willock. Warburton doesn't seem to fancy him, though. But he actually retains the ball really well and gets things moving when partnering up with Chair. I think they have the makings of a good duo. One thing our whole team seems to be bad at is making runs. We're offside half the time. Adomah, Bright and whatever striker is on needs to be stretching the back lines of teams and be making defenders nervous about runs on the offside line. This can be difficult with wingbacks.
I think Willock looks promising too, but even more so than Albert, he looks like he's gasping for air after 15 minutes or so, which I guess is why he isnt starting. I'm with you on the defensive part of that team you put up, but I think as well that Dykes is our best target man player, and Austin did look at his best playing off OBZ back in the day, not so sure now though. But I'd have Willock on the Bench and move Chair back into attacking midfield, from the team you put up, in a 3 5 2 with BOS, and Albert or Kakay when fit, the WB's, Nico a reserve WB too.
Not a huge number of games on tonight so I'll be surprised if there isn't a stream somewhere, but they usually don't get listed until a bit closer to the game. I'm sure others will know exactly where.
Too me he is probably the best striker we could have got on loan...and wants to play for us... What's not to love.
