Yeah probably. Austin can just sit his fat arse in the box and wait for the chances and Dykes can do the donkey work and stay out of his way.
It's a good question, I wouldn't really want any of the ones that have failed up front so far this season. Someone quick, maybe recall little Smyth to play off him, though ideally a more proven scorer of the Wells type.
I wouldn't say that Dykes has failed. He just hasn't scored enough in open play. He hasn't missed too many. Austin/Dykes would give Luton and Wycombe plenty to worry about.
Think Dykes has missed a few and not even reached a few more chances he should have. I was thinking with Austin not being too quick he would be good with a striking partner who had some quicker legs. But then I remember Austin was perhaps at his very best when playing with hold up specialist OBZ, a 3 all with Man City with these 2 playing together was one of his very best I think. So hopefully with the best of Dykes being his holding/ lay off play we' will see the best of Dykes and Austin playing together like you say.
What formation and lineup would everyone go with now that we have Austin? For reference: https://www.qpr.co.uk/squads/first-team/ I'm thinking that Dykes would not really be such a good pairing. We need someone to quick to run off anything that Austin brings down. I'd go with: please log in to view this image Bonne could potentially be interchangeable with Chair. As could Willock or Kelmann.
